Tea – the cups that cheer but not inebriate. – William Cowper, Poet

“Christopher Robin was home by this time, because it was the afternoon, and he was so glad to see them that they stayed there until very nearly tea-time, and then they had a Very Nearly tea, which is one you forget about afterwards, and hurried on to Pooh Corner, so as to see Eeyore before it was too late to have a Proper Tea with Owl.” – A.A. Milne, The House at Pooh Corner

Strange how a teapot can represent at the same time the comforts of solitude and the pleasures of company. – Anonymous Author

You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me. – C.S. Lewis

If you are cold, tea will warm you; If you are too heated, it will cool you; If you are depressed, it will cheer you; If you are excited, it will calm you. – Gladstone (1865) Victorian British Prime Minister

  2. Lovely! I love your teapots and the quotes you found. I have a small collection of teapots, but not cups. I like my tea really hot and it cools off too fast in a teacup. So I use a big mug. But, if someone were to invite me over for tea, I would so enjoy sipping from a dainty teacup!

    • I used to use a mug, but then decided to test the theory that a china cup makes a difference. It’s really true. A mug doesn’t allow you to taste the tea fully the way a china cup does. I don’t know the whys and wherefores, but it’s true. I found the same thing when drinking wine (not that it’s better in a china cup, of course), that the proper glass makes a difference, NOT that you really have to have a different glass for each type of wine. But white and red require different shapes of glasses to get the full flavor and nose.

However, I have been know to drink tea from whatever’s available when I must.
