The road goes ever on and on

The perfect quote for a road trip of two 13+ hour days of driving:

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Lord of the Rings, J.R.R. Tolkien

Although it wasn’t a journey of Hobbit-like proportions, it was long enough, probably more enjoyable, and certainly less fraught with danger than that of Frodo, Sam and the others.  I enjoyed the changes of landscape and more, but it’s too late and I’m a bit too fried for an update.  That will have to wait until tomorrow.  Until then, sleep the sleep of the contented…log-like or not.  I know I shall!

As far as he could remember, Sam slept through the night in deep content, if logs are contented.”                               “The Lord of the Rings” by J.R.R.Tolkien, in Chapter 7 “In the House of Tom Bombadil”
