Farmer’s market joys

Saturday mornings at the farmer’s market are wonderful when the sun is shining and it’s warm enough to take the time to saunter and peruse, rather than bolt through and rush back to the van; better for the vendors, too.

This morning, instead of being on the seller’s side of the table, I was six hours away, enjoying the morning on the buying side of things.  Even though I was up as early as when I sell, I went home once I was finished buying, an unusual occurrence.  The strawberries was so sweet on my cereal and I found an online recipe for using the beet greens that I usually toss out.  So what do you think:  roasted beets with some balsamic vinegar, sauteed beet greens, and andouille sausage or, for me, sauteed portobellas?  Stop your drooling right now!!

Strawberry jam, strawberry pie, strawberries on everything!

Frodo would love these. But Farmer Maggot was keeping his eyes on them this morning!

My market booty for today

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, that or the other thing.
