Take a walk with me around our little portion of the Big Horns.

Or, if you prefer, ride along.

If you aren’t too sure of yourself on a horse, you can practice in the corral before going out on the trail.  I’d be glad to give you some pointers.  You can see that it’s dry this year; not nearly as much green as usual.  But, thankfully, no fires, either.

Later in the day, you might want to fish in the farther lake.  There are two more, if that one doesn’t appeal.  There’s also a paddle boat if that sounds like more fun.

Try to keep the boat out of the cattails.

I like to go out by myself and sit, listening to the quiet sounds of the mountains and enjoying the view.  My soul needs this sort of thing regularly and yours could probably use it, too.  Not too many summers ago, a fire-fighting plane flew continuously over this lake, scooping up water to dump on a nearby forest fire, one that eventually caused us to have to evacuate.  Fortunately, no one was injured and only a few structures (not here) burned.

About 5 pm, the horses’ work day ends and they get out of the corral and get down to eating and relaxing.

Come back tomorrow for more snapshots of Wyoming!!  Hang out by the corral and watch the horses.  Come for another ride with us or take a walk.  It’s all good.

  1. I would love to be by that lake right now.

  2. I was so excited to see your photos!!! I use to live in Buffalo, next to the Bighorn mountains. My favorite part of living in Wyoming was the Bighorns. I would love to see more of your photos! 🙂 We were hoping to visit there this summer but it didn’t work out. We’re aiming for the spring when the mountain flowers are in bloom!

    • Kimberly, we’re up the Red Grade in the Big Horns! Were there eagles nesting by the highway at the top of the one post when you lived there? I used to love seeing them, but they’re no longer there.

I plan to have more photos but I’d be happy to just send you some personally as attachments, too, if you’d like. I have lots of them (but I wouldn’t send them all.) Let me know if you want me to enable your Big Horn fix!

      • How exciting!!! No, I don’t remember the eagles nesting while I was there. That would have been wonderful to see. Do you go up 16 out of Buffalo? I always loved to go to Crazy Woman Canyon and the Powder River Pass.

I would love for you to send me more photos. The more the better! 🙂 Hopefully it will keep me contented until we can go! 🙂 Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! Have fun! 🙂
