Back from the wilds of the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming, we took a walk around the lake by our subdivision in Naperville.  There’s plenty of wildlife and lots of plants here, just at a slightly tamer level.  However, beauty still abounds and I hope you enjoy it with me.

Happiness held is the seed; Happiness shared is the flower.
–John Harrigan

A bit Monet, don’t you think?

I wanted to know the name of every stone and flower and insect and bird and beast. I wanted to know where it got its color, where it got its life – but there was no one to tell me.
–George Washington Carver

All my life I have tried to pluck a thistle and plant a flower wherever the flower would grow in thought and mind.
–Abraham Lincoln

Don’t miss the bee!

If a man could pass through Paradise in a dream, and have a flower presented to him as a pledge that his soul had really been there, and if he found that flower in his hand when he awake – Aye, what then?
–Samuel Taylor Coleridge
More Monet.

For man, as for flower and beast and bird, the supreme triumph is to be most vividly, most perfectly alive.
–David Herbert Lawrence

These were in the garden of the man I wrote about in one of my Friday Fictioneers stories (https://sustainabilitea.wordpress.com/2012/07/19/friday-fictioneers-grapevines/).

I decided that if I could paint that flower in a huge scale, you could not ignore its beauty.
–Georgia O’Keeffe

This forcibly reminds me of popcorn.  🙂
