Our younger daughter and I were doing one of our periodic exploration and drooling sessions at a nearby antique shop when we spotted a beautiful, elegant tea set from Germany. We ooh-ed and aah-ed over it, then went home, leaving me to wish I’d bought it. Somehow it appeared under the Christmas tree for me that year, a lovely, thoughtful gift. I thought for some time that it was black, but it’s a deep, rich cobalt. As with many other things, sunlight brings out the best in it.
I love the reflections of both dining room windows on the sides of the pot! And you can really see the cobalt in this picture.
Gorgeous!
I have it in the dining room to be seen so I sometimes forget to use it. But it brings beauty, which is worthy on its own.
This is antique and very beautiful!

The cups are very small, so you have to keep refilling them. I love the cobalt color, even though it often looks black (but I like black a lot, too.)
I liked the color too =)

What a find! No matter how much antiquing I do, I never seem to stumble upon treasure like this… But knowing that such things are really out there does inspire me to keep looking!
You never know, that’s for sure. Thanks for stopping by. I’m enjoying your blog and look forward to making some of your recipes.
A very thoughtful gift…those are the best. I too thought it was black (and thought that a very elegant color for a tea set) until I saw in your other photos where the cobalt color shows up…so very beautiful…what a treasure. And thanks for sharing your link with me.
Beautiful tea set!!! I can imagine how excited you must have been!!!
