Today it began…
The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event. You go to bed in one kind of a world and wake up in another quite different, and if this is not enchantment then were is it to be found?
–J. B. Priestly
In the wintertime, in the snow country, citrus fruit was so rare, and if you got one, it was better than ambrosia.
—James Earl Jones
We build statues out of snow, and weep to see them melt.
—Walter Scott
An aged Christian, with the snow of time upon his head, may remind us that those points of earth are whitest which are nearest to heaven.
—Edwin Hubble Chapin
The snow itself is lonely or, if you prefer, self-sufficient. There is no other time when the whole world seems composed of one thing and one thing only.
—Joseph Wood Krutch
And so we remained till the red of the dawn began to fall through the snow gloom. I was desolate and afraid, and full of woe and terror. But when that beautiful sun began to climb the horizon life was to me again.
–Bram Stoker
You are ice and fire, the touch of you burns my hands like snow.
–Amy Lowell
I love Christmas. I really do love Christmas. I love being with my family and I love snow. I love the music and the lights and all of it.
—Christina Applegate
Very nice – I especially like the photo of peppers in the snow! There’s something you don’t see every day. And I like the Walter Scott quote, too. I’m impressed that you found such a large assortment of “snow” quotes for this post.
Sharon, when I do quotes, I google “quotes about snow” or whatever the topic is, and they pop right up. Some are very tangential, but usually there are quite a few that will work. Often I have to make hard choices about which to choose. Glad you liked the pictures. Not much snow, but a harbinger!
Beautiful shots.
Thanks so much!
Makes me realize fall is moving into winter-nice…beebee
That it is. Going to take the garbage out tonight, I hit the cold, crisp air of incipient winter. That little bit of snow is going, but I know it’s out there. I really don’t mind snow most of the time and prefer it to rain in many ways.
Brrr! I love the cabbage plans (Kale)? Really pretty, I want some! Fun pictures!
Wish you could be here.
Ornamental kale. They’re beautiful.
