“The reason birds can fly and we can’t is simply because they have perfect faith, for to have faith is to have wings.”

“It is beautiful to discover our wings and learn how to fly; flight is a beautiful process. But then to rest on the wings of God as He flies: this is divine.”

“There will be a bird today. It will be white with streaks of gold like a crown atop its head. It will fly.”

“Some birds are not meant to be caged, that’s all. Their feathers are too bright, their songs too sweet and wild. So you let them go, or when you open the cage to feed them they somehow fly out past you. And the part of you that knows it was wrong to imprison them in the first place rejoices, but still, the place where you live is that much more drab and empty for their departure.”
— Stephen King, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption: A Story from Different Seasons

“He imagines a necessary joy in things that must fly to eat.”

  1. What a great mixture of photos and quotations!

  2. I’ve always liked the last quote.
    Really nice pics.

    • Thanks. Good to “see” you again. How are things with you?

      • Crazy busy, I always see your blog but I’m usually on the run and have little time to leave comments.
        What about you?

      • Have painters at the house this week (and next) to do virtually every room on both floors. All that is part of getting the house ready to put on the market and, hopefully, sell. Today and next week I’ll be “confined” mostly to the upstairs while they work downstairs. Thank goodness for internet!! 🙂

  3. Inspiring! Birds can be so difficult to capture, but each one of these shots is lovely. Makes me want to get out on the beach and see if any seagulls will pose for me, too.

  4. Nice blog post to share.
