We’ve had our last meal of the year:  Bobby Flay’s salmon with mustard and brown sugar glaze, (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/bobby-flay/salmon-with-brown-sugar-and-mustard-glaze-recipe/index.html), farro (my new favorite grain), cauliflower, and bubbly.   Later, we’ll have Julie Hasson’s rice pudding, (vegan and seriously good), http://www.juliehasson.com/2011/10/old-fashioned-creamy-rice-pudding/.

We’re staying in tonight, having family time.  I don’t know if any of us are making resolutions.  I have before, but I usually don’t.  Here are just a couple thoughts I have about things that might be worthwhile resolving to do.

Do something kind for someone else each day.

Do something kind for yourself each day.

Do something for your community.

Forgive yourself and forgive others.

Cherish your family and friends.  Spend quality time with them.  Talk with them and listen to what they say.

Dream a dream or two.  If you don’t reach them, don’t feel that you’ve failed.  Either try again or dream a new dream and attempt to reach it.  Only feel bad if you don’t try.

Have fun.

Learn something new as often as you can.

Eat healthily and do things that make/keep you healthy.

Look at the many blessings you have rather than at what you don’t have or at what someone else has.

Tomorrow is a new year, the perfect time to make new beginnings…an empty slate, upon which you can write whatever you want.  Go out and write on it and don’t be afraid to erase when necessary.

A happy and blessed 2013 to you and yours!!

  1. wonderful thoughts and seems to me you do these each day anyway Jan…God Bless you and family watch over you and guide you in his love and grace in 2013!!

  2. Have a happy&helathy New Year… and could you send me the leftovers of this delicious Salmon?

    • I would but my husband and daughter would be terribly upset as it’s already on their menu for breakfast/lunch (whenever they get up.) However, if you were to arrive here before they arise…

A happy, healthy 2013 to all of you as well.

may all your wishes for the New Year come into focus for you…

  4. It looks yummy…brown sugar and mustard make so many things better, don’t they? Best wishes with your unresolutions, and Happy 2013 to you and your family!

Great post, Janet. Great goals. Keeping things simple, uncomplicated and eating healthy. 🙂 That, I can agree on all. I’m ready for tomorrow, (FF) early this time due to the picture prompt let out by mistake. 🙂

    • Thanks, Joyce. I, too, am ready, but will probably wait until later in the day or in the evening, since I already put out a post this morning. But who knows? I may just go ahead and post it.

      • Joyce says:

Yes, me too. I actually have my FF story ready to go automatically with the scheduled date and time, but I too wanted to get the other post up on the first day of the new year.

      • I didn’t wait. 🙂 I figured if anyone felt overwhelmed by two posts, they could just not read them or one of them.
