Phoneography Challenge: Macro…if life give you lemons…

Over Thanksgiving weekend, we visited the newest location of HipCityVeg, in the University City section of Philadelphia. The food was excellent and the restaurant decorated for Christmas. On the counter was a large cooler filled with water, ice and lemon slices, a beautiful, refreshing look that drew my gaze immediately. The workers were a bit bemused when I came to take a photo but when one woman peeked at my shots, she said, “Wow!”, a spontaneous comment that I appreciated. Despite the frigid weather today, the shot still looks fresh and appealing to me. I hope it does to you, too.

The Phoneography Challenge is open to anyone who takes photos with a phone or iThing. Each Monday has its own theme and as this is the second Monday of the month, the theme is “Macro.” Click on the word to go to Sally’s site to enter or simply view the various submissions by clicking on the links. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did.

  1. Great choice of subjects–love the surreal glance. I really like that the lemons were floating, giving them a focused charm. Happy Phoneography Monday.

  2. Lemons! I can have those. πŸ˜‰

Very beautiful shot, Janet… love that colour!

    • It would look even better in the heat of summer, but it makes me feel refreshed just to look at it. Glad you liked it. How are you doing?

      • Helena Hann-Basquiat says:

On the mend? Got some medicine that’s making me feel a bit weird, but I’ll adjust, I suppose. I’m trying to get some work done, but I’m having a hard time focusing. Thanks for asking, Janet!

      • (((((((((((((Helena)))))))))))))) Side effects can be such a nuisance! Hope you adjust soon and can enjoy the Christmas season.

  4. What a wonderful shade of yellow! Great idea for macro. πŸ™‚

    • Thanks. My first impulse is to go with plants of some sort because they’re so beautiful and intricate. But I decide to be different this week and just enjoy nature’s beauty on everyone’s sites.

  5. This bright yellow photo was definitely needed today. A ray of sunshine in a very grey and potentially stormy day.

  6. Amy says:

I really, really like this shot!

  7. FireBonnet says:

You captured such a wonderful feeling of being suspended… And, the lemons are so rich in color, I don’t feel cold(er) at all! lol

    • Just got in and I feel cold–the wind has picked up tremendously. But I think the yellow of the lemons makes up for it. Thanks for visiting and commenting. I’m pleased you liked the shot.

  8. Allan G. Smorra says:

If life gives you melons, you just might be dyslexic! I like the color in this photo. The lemons remind me of Jellyfish for some reason. -Allan

    • πŸ™‚ Hope you were bundled up when you stopped by, Allan. It’s cold and snowy here.

      • Allan G. Smorra says:

It is cold here also, temps in the 20s overnight, but beautiful clear skies at night for my graveyard shift. I am grateful that I have a wonderful Filson sweater to keep me warm at work. December is my favorite month.

  9. Not only was it a great shot of the lemons floating but also the ice.

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, that or the other thing.
