It’s Monday and time once again for the Phoneography Challenge. If you take photos with a phone, you should consider joining us on Mondays (or throughout the week) for the Phoneography Challenge. Where will you find it? Lens and Pens by Sally, a blog of writing and photography. How do you know what the challenge is? Here’s the updated challenge list, which repeats monthly. The challenge themes in bold were added as of last week.
1st Monday: Nature
2nd Monday: Macro
3rd Monday: Black and White
4th Monday Challenger’s Choice (Pick One: Abstraction, Animals, Architecture, Food Photography, Night Photography, Objects, Portraiture, Still Life, Street Photography, and Travel). (Animals and Objects are themes.)
5th Monday: Editing and Processing with Various Apps Using Themes from the Fourth Week (31 March 2014 will be the first challenge for this new theme).
Join us! It’s lot of fun, you’ll see wonderful photos and learn a lot.
This week I decided to go with photos that weren’t naturally black and white and then edit them on Picasa.
The texture is the first two is nicely captured. But it’s the contrasts of the last that makes the last one my favorite. Happy Phoneography Monday.
Thanks, Sally. Same to you. I hope you’re not getting snow today. We’re under a winter storm warning from 10 am to 10 pm. 😦 We already have plenty. It’s getting harder to figure out where to put it when shoveling but Thursday it will be in the 40’s and rainy, so it will be quite a mess!

We may gets some tomorrow evening. But we have the same problem. Piles are so large that it may be Spring before it dissipates. Stay warm and cozy up to a warm cup of tea,
The cup of tea is a given but as I just got back home Saturday night, I have to do some grocery shopping today. Having some breakfast and planning meals, then I’ll head out before it gets bad. Have a lovely Monday.

Black and white shows up the texture really well in one and two. But I like 3 too because of the contrast in the shapes. Have a great day!
Thanks very much. Enjoy your day as well. I’m going grocery shopping before the snow starts and then I can look at everyone else’s photos, which is always fun.

Hmm, chop chop, get it done and get cosy back home again : )
Home again, food put away, stocked up with books, a load of laundry in and women’s hockey on TV. Time for some lunch. Snow’s coming down now but I made it! 🙂
Great photos. 😀
Thanks very much, Raewyn. They look pretty good in color, too, but the B&W really changes the focus and feel. I’ll be visiting you soon.

Beautiful, dear Janet.
I always love when you drop by. Thanks!

Janet — You’re taking to the iPhone 5 like a duck to water. Nicely done.
Thanks, Tom. From you, that’s a true compliment. I’ve been using the panorama feature, too, and love that!

Great captures! Especially the last one.
Great photos, Janet. I really love that last one; great texture and contrasts.
Thanks a lot, Angeline. It looked good in color, too. 🙂
janet
i love all those photos. the editing technique used makes me curious and my job is to explore it more.
Thanks, Amar. I’m just getting started with editing, too. It’s fun.

Beautiful photos. The lines on the left side of the first image makes me think of a draped tent 😀 My favourite is the third image. I think it’s because of the contrasts (as Sally mentioned) and the fact that I can totally picture it as a framed print on a wall somewhere…
Thanks, Uresha. I may have to consider have a print made of that last one. I do have a print hanging on a wall of a law office in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, or did at one time years ago. It was the first and only print I ever sold but it thrilled me to think someone enjoyed my photo so much that he would buy and display it. 🙂
janet
Well that’s one more than I’ve sold 🙂 It must feel great to know someone beside family is actually displaying something you did! I’ve just been looking at other ways supplement my income as a designer http://www.society6.com helps artists sell their work and seems like a good place to start. I’m gonna give it a go soon. Check them out, maybe it could help you too 🙂 xx
Love the first image. It has such great texture and depth. Really nice!
Thank you, Dena. Although I like them all, I added the last one on a whim and it seems to be the most popular. I thought the first two would be. You never know. 🙂
janet
True enough. I always find it interesting what people respond to on the blog. I’m enjoying yours. Have a good one.
Dena
I understand why everyone loves the last, the contrasts are striking. I think the first is my favorite though. And the softening you did around the edges works really well. Welcome home! I hope you had a great trip.
We had a wonderful trip! I’ve done a number of posts on it and have a few more to go. I’d definite go back. Thanks for always stopping by!
janet
I’m behind with my reading! I’ll head back over and browse. 🙂
Take your time. I only meant that the posts were there if you want to take a look. They won’t go away. 🙂
😉
Hmm Infared? Is that an app? Fantastic contrast!
All three are editing choices from Picasa, Carol.

Janet these are fab! I love the palm with its defining texture. Mind you, I also really like the wheel. 😀 Well done hun, love your post! 🙂
Thanks very much, Amanda. I often like all the photos people posts…and I’m OK with that. 🙂
