Friends.  You are infinitely precious to me.  Here are some wonderful quotes that had just the right fit for how I would describe friends and friendship.

“Friendship is born at that moment when one man says to another: “What! You too? I thought that no one but myself…”
~C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves

A friend is someone who knows you and loves you just the same.
~Elbert Hubbard

“Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life.”
~Mark Twain

“It is not a lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages.”
~Friedrich Nietzsche

“There is nothing better than a friend, unless it is a friend with chocolate.”
~Linda Grayson

“If I had a flower for every time I thought of you…I could walk through my garden forever.”
~Alfred Tennyson

“There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature.”
~Jane Austen, “Northanger Abbey”

“It’s the friends you can call up at 4 a.m. that matter.”
~Marlene Dietrich

“I think if I’ve learned anything about friendship, it’s to hang in, stay connected, fight for them, and let them fight for you. Don’t walk away, don’t be distracted, don’t be too busy or tired, don’t take them for granted. Friends are part of the glue that holds life and faith together. Powerful stuff.”
~Jon Katz

“What is a friend? A single soul dwelling in two bodies.”

“Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art…. It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things which give value to survival.”
~C.S. Lewis, “The Four Loves”

“We’ll be Friends Forever, won’t we, Pooh?’ asked Piglet.
Even longer,’ Pooh answered.”
~A.A. Milne, “Winnie-the-Pooh”

So, to my friends!  Cheers!

what an awesome post – and I loved each quote… but the last one takes the top spot for me….

“We’ll be Friends Forever, won’t we, Pooh?’ asked Piglet.
    Even longer,’ Pooh answered….”

have a nice week – and glad to be one of your “newest” friends in the blogo world! 🙂 ~y.

    • Winnie-the-Pooh is full of such gentle yet true wisdom. I like the first one a lot but as I looked, I kept finding more and more good ones. I didn’t even make it past the first page of quote! As for friends in the blogosphere, I’ve met at least three in person, which is lots of fun. So who knows???

  3. lovely post, Janet… one to keep and savour, thank you – especially Pooh pf course, though Tennyson is pretty something !!!!

    • Good morning (at least on my side of the globe), Valerie. I started with just the first quote and then decided to look for more. There have been many wonderful things said about friendship, maybe because it can be such a wonderful thing. I’m happy you liked the quotes as much as I did. Have a wonder-filled weekend.

Is this to your 3D (i.e., touchable) friends, or to we 2D (i.e., etherial) ones …?
Or maybe to all of us ?
Yes, that’d be it, knowing your kind heart …
    Cheers, then, beautiful Janet !

  5. Dear Janet,

I can think of a few I’d put in this category in my life. I’m blessed. Beautiful post.

    • Glad you liked it, Rochelle. I’d planned to write about friendship myself, and may another time, but the quotes I found were so good that I just went with them…and this was only from the first page. 🙂

Janet- This is a wonderful collection of quotes. They became a story on their own. One I relate to and one I still aspire to live. Thanks for this.

  7. Such a lovely post to wake up to. Cheers to friendship!
