After an enjoyable extended weekend with friends, my throat has decided to rebel and is rather sore this morning. That, together with a late arrival home last night, has numbed my brain to the point where any cogent bit of writing is out of the question. However, I can still share a few shots of our day lilies, which went from completely closed to gloriously open in the short time I was gone. No sun today, but they still look bright and cheerful.
stunning photo!
Thanks very much.

And the petals opened up… The three ‘S’s so beautifully defined in the second picture: stamen, style and stigma. This picture takes me back to Botany 101 classes. Great job!
Hope they’re good memories. 🙂

they look like fire , I love this color! Hope you feel better soon, Strepsils are great for the throat, the cherry flavoured for juniors are really tasty.
Glad you liked the photos. The throat’s passive right now. I’ve taken something to keep my nose from running, something for the pain of the soreness and have some throat lozenges for anything else. 😦 Hopefully it will be gone soon and thanks for the good wishes!

Lovely lilies, Janet
It’s good to have some this year. Last year at our house in Cleveland, the moment the flowers came out, the deer ate them. 😦
Glad you’ve got them this year, then!
The last photo is stunning. This would certainly brighten up my day. 😀
It did mine, Raewyn, and glad it did yours, too.

Great photos! Oh the colors… As for your throat, half a bottle of vodka usually does it for me… 😉
🙂
Elegant flowers. Look like celebrity singers performing on stage
I love your comparison.

Oh, these are gorgeous!
Good morning, Sandra. Thanks for stopping by. I’m glad you like the photos. I’ll have to post a photo of our mailbox. It’s surrounded by these daylilies which are about four feet high, making getting to the box interesting. 🙂 Easy to tell which is our house, though.

I can vouch for brandy and hot water….with honey 🙂 Hope you are better already. Love the lilies.
Hmmm, that sounds like a winner. Better but not quite back to my “normal” self, but thanks, Madhu. Enjoying the World Cup games while resting. 🙂

Beautiful and a marvelous daytime miracle, Hope your throat heals soon.
Feeling almost back to whatever passes for normal today, Kathryn. 🙂 Thanks. Just glad it happened before our trip to France!
