When I was doing personal training, I had a lovely older couple as clients. We would often walk for part of our time together and she shuddered every time she saw a lawn ornament (or at least when she saw most of them.) I must admit I’m much of the same mind. I hope I offend no one if I say that if you can’t see why these are oddball photos, I’m not going to attempt to explain. 🙂 These “beauties” were spotted in the windows of a lovely garden store in downtown Kansas City during a trip to the farmers market with friends. Once we got past these guardians of the doors, the rest of the shop was not only normal, but beautifully old-fashioned and full of delights.
We’re now on week 18 of Cee’s Oddball Photo Challenge. Feel free to get your oddball photos and join the fun.
well I agree – lawn ornaments are a very individual thing – and some are so – well – oddball indeed. nice post!!!
“Very individual” is a nice, diplomatic way to put it. 🙂

The nicest lawn ornaments are, in my opinion, buttercups and daisies. 😉 These are really something else, Janet.
I completely agree, Sandra. We had a small stone lion in our garden in Cleveland, but he was quite nice, not at all in the same league as these.
janet
I’m with Sandra on lawn ornaments…. 🙂
I also, Sue!

Perhaps we should have a poll! 🙂
I have an idea we’d be on the winning side of that one, but who knows? Tastes certainly differ.
Who knows indeed! 🙂
I really like your odd balls!
🙂 I like them, too…in the window of this store!
janet
I’m with your client. 🙂 I can tolerate ‘animals’ in an outdoor scene but I don’t get the gnomes. They are scary little guys. LOL
I’m with you, Judy. Not my cup of tea at all.
janet
Dear Janet,
Happy memories. 😀 I thought I’d go back down there and snag those biker gnomes. Don’t you think they’d look perfect guarding the doors of Jan’s man-shed? (Or not…maybe I just need more coffee or pain meds).
Shalom,
Rochelle
Or both!! I vote no on the no-mes but yes on the memories.
janet
Tis a bit funny isn’t it. Gnomes freak me out a little but suddenly they become a bit cool with kids and now I have 2 as he thinks they are magical elves. They may accidentally fall off the pot plant to their death, onto the concrete hopefully shattering into a billion pieces when the phase passes…
These guys sit right on the grass or pavement, so not much chance of accidentally falling, unfortunately. 🙂 Good luck with yours!
janet
Maybe a lawn mower… Or a football kicked at them, accidentally of course .
:-(. Of course. And it IS World Cup time now.
((( Shudder )))! 😀 Great examples Janet!
😀 I think I was accidentally writing some kind of code!!
Too funny! Thank goodness for editing!
LOL! Definitely, Madhu. Thanks for stopping by and have a great Sunday.

Such wonderful fun oddities. I really like your photos this week. 🙂
Thanks, Cee. Off to put my link on the official site. 🙂

A better class of garden gnome – goths? 🙂
Or bikers. As the kids say, “Whatever!”

So true! 🙂

The cow doesn’t seem to like the outfit….thus the disturbing vibes?
Fun!
Who know where the vibe comes from, but it’s definitely there! 🙂
janet
hahaha … I don’t like lawn ornaments either but I can enjoy when someone else has them. If it fits the theme of the home I’m okay with it. I have a friend who lives on the beach and has a dolphin mailbox. I think that fits the lawn ornament category. : )
The cow is adorable. Nice selection of odd ball pix’s.
Someone not too close to my house. 🙂 Yes, it depends what they are and mailboxes can be different. I say “can” rather than “are” because one that sticks out in my mind was an enormous golf ball!!
To each their own.
janet
Quite the gnome party you have going on. Loved it!
Thankfully the party was far from my house!! 😉
janet
Great collections! I also like the reflections which add peculiarity to the images. 😀
One of the joys/hazards of shooting through windows. 🙂
I’m glad it added to the pleasure for you.
