We arrived!! We made it to France via KLM, who took great care of us, and have caught up (more or less) on our sleep. We’re near Ternuay-Melay-et-Saint-Hilaire, in the region of Franche-Comté (the latter half of that name also the name of a famous cheese.) There is rather distinctive architecture in this area and one of the main features is the use of stone, which was left by glaciers many years ago. Here are a few photos from our first foray into the countryside.
The title alone caught my attention
:-). I always try to have a catchy title, John.
I love the title!!!
And hopefully the photos as well. 🙂

Absolutely sorry I didn’t say that also but yes they are lovely.
agree with John Castle,,,but i find it rather deceiving,,,lol
There are stones everywhere in the photos and all around this area, so not complete deception. But of course the title’s meant to attract attention. Much more interesting than “Pictures of stone buildings in France”, don’t you think? 🙂
janet
couldn’t agree more,,it is way better than the one u just mentioned,,,,and as u said it was for attracting the attention and it definitely worked,,,at least for me,,,and i said deceiving because when i read ur title, for a moment i thought about being wildly drunk in Paris or something,,,no hard feelings,,,hehe
Of course no hard feelings. 🙂 Interesting to see where everyone’s minds go first!! Ha!
they say, every one is blessed with different dimensional analysis of same entity,,,weird but true,,,you can not blame me for that can u
🙂 Of course not.
🙂 have a good day,,,
You, too.
Beautiful. I look forward to hearing more.
More photos tomorrow and I just finished some narration about the trip over.

Great photos Janet, hope you enjoy getting ‘lost in France’
Any plans to come to the UK? Or better still visiting Wales?
Take care and enjoy your trip
Dee
Dee, I so wish we could come to the UK and to Wales (which I love!) Perhaps on another trip. We’re having lots of fun here and eating quite well, thanks to my b-i-l and s-i-l! Despite the rain, it’s been great so far.
janet
Janet – glad you’re having a good time. I hear you may be meeting up with Sandra if you do say ‘hello’ from me. It would be good to meet up with fellow FFers saw the Rochelle’s recent photos looked like you all had a fun time.
Enjoy the rest of you stay
Dee
Dee, it appears it’s going to work to meet Sandra and Neville on Tuesday. We’re really looking forward to that. Believe me, if I ever get to the UK again, I’ll definitely plan a trip to Wales to meet you. Our younger daughter and I were there on a UK trip a few years ago and although we were only in Wales for a couple days, we loved it.

Enjoy the journey, catchy title, hope you packed a wine glass or two.
So far champagne has been the order of the day, but we’ll get to the red soon enough. Hope to bring a bottle or two back as well. Stay tuned for more.

Love the photos..Have a most wonderful & memorable vacation!
Thanks! It’s been great so far. Hope you enjoy the trip with us.

What a beautiful place to be. Storybook.
My s-i-l and b-i-l lived in Provence before, which was also beautiful. The two areas are SO different. Fun to explore new areas.

Gorgeous pics, Janet. Love your title. 🙂
Glad you liked the photos and I’ve gotten lots of great comments on the title. It seemed obvious and apropos as well as cute. 🙂
Enjoy a fabulous time here and maybe you can enjoy the cheese with a glass of Pomerol :o)
We’ve been enjoying everything with glasses of mostly champagne so far. Quite nice!
janet
Cheers! great to have this veuve named clicquot :o)
Beautiful Janet! Have a wonderful trip!
So far, great!

I love old buildings. They have such stories to tell.
There are so many here and often beautifully renovated. I keep thinking someone will come out and ask what I’m doing, but so far I’ve been safe. 🙂

Hydrangeas are my favorites. I have several bushes in the garden. Mine are dark pink though. The picture is stunning!
From you, I consider that a stellar compliment! 🙂
janet
Like the look of this place….
It’s a beautiful area with lovely, old stone houses and buildings. Some are falling apart while others have been renovated.
janet
Beautiful! It looks like you are set for a fantastic trip 🙂
The first few days have been great. Now if the rain would just stop!!
janet
We are. Had another great day today..
