One of the things I miss about my s-i-l and b-i-l no longer living in Provence is being able to buy bags of lavender at the markets.  But my s-i-l has done a wonderful job with their gardens and land, planting lavender in many places, where its perfume attracts bees, butterflies and me as well.  I share a few shots today with you for the Phoneography Challenge theme, “Nature.”  Be sure to click on the link to find other beautiful photo offerings.

The air was fragrant with a thousand trodden aromatic herbs, with fields of lavender, and with the brightest roses blushing in tufts all over the meadows…

We shall find a cleanly room
lavender in the windows
and twenty ballads stuck about the wall.

Those shots are terrific I-phone photos. Well done. 🙂

Lavender is not only beautiful to look at, its scent is so-oooo soothing. And it’s good for small burns and bug bites, and a tea made from it can ease a headache. These are lovely shots, Janet.

  3. very nice shots and quotes. Randy

  4. Janet, beautiful shots! I can smell the lavender almost!

  5. You took these photos on your phone?? I have always carried a little jealousy of photographers – it is a skill I wish I possessed. That you can produce such beautiful work not from a fancy-schmancy SLR but from your smartphone just leaves me gobsmacked.

    • I love the word “gobsmacked”, so thanks for using it as well as for the compliment. The iPhone takes great photos as does the iPad and is so easy to carry around. Thanks for visiting and commenting!

  6. Our lavender is harvested now and we let it dry in our storeroom, the scent is overwhelming :O)

  7. This is so apropos for what is going on in one of my garden projects right now. Planting various types of lavender, that is. Great photos of a favorite plant. And the deer won’t it. YAY!!!

  8. Lavender is one of the joys of traveling in Provence–fields of purple hues and aromas. I adore the second image for its symbolism: the joining of nature to human nature. Well done. Happy Photo Challenge.

  14. So Charming.! The editing creates lovely storybook feeling.
    Yeah butterfly!

    • That butterfly was difficult to catch with the phone, Carol, but I persisted. 🙂 Yes, editing can create a lovely feel. Thanks for stopping by.

  15. Lavender is one of my favourite plants and a great subject for photography. Love your phoneography this week.

Yep, gobsmacked is the right word. 😀 I love taking photos with my smartphone, too.

    • Good morning, Christine. My favorite part of having a smartphone is having a camera that takes great photos and can be so easily carried. I do want to figure out my Nikon so I can use it, too, but being able to slip the phone in a purse, fanny pack or pocket makes photography SO much easier.

      Enjoy your day,
