Phoneography and Non-SLR Digital Devices Photo Challenge: Macro on a French log

Let’s take a quick break from our vacation in Wyoming (which I hope you’ve been following), and fly (free) back to France for this week’s them:  “Macro.”  I cropped the original photo, saturated just slightly, then used Lomo-ish for drama.  Of course the framing is also courtesy of Picasa 3 (free and worth every penny you don’t have to pay).  I hope you like the finished product as well as I do.  More Wyoming posts will be coming up and eventually, more about France as well, so stay tuned.

Murphy’s Law of Photo Challenges dictates that last Friday, I posted the photo that first came to mind for this challenge and one of my favorite macros.  If you’d like to see it, it’s here.

  1. A really fascinating image. I love the edit. 🙂

  2. The eloquence and flow of this mushroom (fungus) defies its reputation. Well done. Happy Photo Challenge.

Your composition is simply wonderful. And the intensity of color is spectacular. i love the ruffles of lavender.

    • Thanks so much, Meghan. For some reason, your three comments ended up in the spam folder and I’m getting them out now. Glad I didn’t miss the compliments. 🙂 As always, thanks for stopping.

This is gorgeous. Great shot, and I love the edit.

    • Thanks so much, Su. In think macro is one of my favorite things. I brought my Nikon on vacation to Wyoming, thinking I’d take time to figure it out but haven’t had or taken the time. Needless to say, I didn’t haul it to France, but got good photos with my trusty iPhone 5.

Mine too; but I really struggle to get crisp shots with my phone. That’s why my macro stuff usually tries to make a virtue of abstraction!!! I hardly go anywhere without my camera now. I bought myself a Canon 550D for Xmas last year and love it.

  7. Wow, that looks great! Love the colors and I love the edit. 🙂

  8. I clicked on the original too, both are lovely Janet. At first glance the photo here almost looks like a little eco system! Great macro hun 🙂 Hope you’re having a fab time! 😀

    • Thanks, Amanda. We’re having lot of fun in Wyoming, but heading home tomorrow, a two-day drive that’s enjoyable as well. I’ve done this trip every year except one since the end of college, which was many, many moons ago!

  9. This is an intriguing shape for the mushroom. I like the way you played with different setting to create the final photo. It turned out real well. : )
