Irony:  a state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often amusing as a result.

Spotted in Chicago on a recent trip, this sign had me whipping out my phone and enjoying a good laugh.  The juxtaposition of these two signs was quite ironic.

Maybe the 2nd ad sponsored the 1st ad

Well spotted….you’d certainly need the second after eating all those calories in the first!

Wonderful! Chicago=home of deep pan so you have have 1!

  4. Ha.

I had a great landscape that I wanted to take a pic of for years, but never got around to it – now it’s no longer there.

It was a Days Inn Hotel in the background
with a funeral home in front

and I thought an apropos caption would have been

    “Days Inn and Out”

Reblogged this on helenscribe and commented:
I’ve been striving for this quality all my life, only now they call it life-balance. Who knew ??? The beauty of Irony is “it takes brains and an understanding of subtext in graphic form”. See London’s Underground maps. Thank you Janet.

  7. Nice one! That juxtaposition is absolutely perfect.

  8. Haha, funny scene. I once saw an ad for some fitness stuff under an ad for McDonalds. Exactly the same scene.

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, that or the other thing.
