Weekly Photo Challenge: Gone but not forgotten…Sunday

The Weekly Photo Challenge theme of “Gone but not forgotten” is the perfect opportunity for me to share the horse love of my life, Sunday.  By next summer, she will in all probability have been put down, having reached the venerable horse age of 30+.  I’ll miss her enthusiasm, speed, and willingness to go anywhere while always giving her best.  If you know horses, you know the joy of having a horse you never have to urge to go faster and is beautiful besides.  Sunday, there’s not another one like you.  Thanks for all the wonderful times and memories.

A friend of mine is having difficulty getting a pingback from WordPress, so I’m going to share her link with you here.  We went similar places this year, although with different animals.  To see Sandra’s entry, click on her name and thanks!

Here’s another friend with the same problem, but great photos:  Chris in Holland.

  18. So sweet – and what a gift to have had that mutual love and trust for so many years.

  19. Hanni says:

    That’s sad.
My sister used to have 2 horses. She loved them and I remember her crying for weeks when our circumstances changed and we had to give them away.

    • I completely understand, Hanni. I know that the people that have Sunday now won’t allow her to suffer and are taking great care of her, even feeding her special food that she can eat with bad teeth. They love her, too.

  20. Dear Janet,

I’ve never been a horse person. But seeing them through my daughter in law’s eyes has given me a new appreciation. Sunday sounds very special. Sorry I never got to meet her but feel that I have through you.

    Blessings and shalom,

    Rochelle

She is one special horse, that fact shines through when you write about her. It will be heartbreaking for you when her time does come, but over time, you will be able to look back on the wonderful memories you made together, and they will sustain you.

What a beautiful, graceful looking creature Janet. 30 years is amazing – lucky you, and lucky her!

  28. God gives us such rich experiences through our interactions with domesticated animals – big and small. Pray that you will have a peace when the times comes to say goodbye, Janet.

    • Thanks, Chuck. I’m at peace with her passing, whenever it comes, and will always have many good memories and stories of our times together. Just thankful God saw fit to put her in my world.

Sorry you won’t have Sunday with you forever (which is what most animal lovers would wish for) but enjoy the time you have left. And of course you should take photos and more photos because she is quite beautiful 🙂

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, that or the other thing.
