I know, I know, I should save this for the third week when we do black and white photos, but I just can’t.  This naturally B&W photo is full of the beauty and splendor of winter and I have to share it right now.  If you live somewhere warm, you can enjoy it from the warmth of your home and don’t have to go out into the cold.  If you’re living in winter now, you know what I’m taking about.  However, in the interest of truth, I’m looking forward to spring.  In the meantime, I’m enjoying winter as much as possible.  Sally, thanks for much for hosting the challenge every Monday.  You rock.

  4. I’m ready for spring BUT that is one spectacular photo. Applause to the photographer. 🙂

    • Thanks muchly, Judy. I’m also longing for spring but there certainly is much beauty in winter and one beautiful part is the anticipation of said spring. 🙂

  5. Janet, you’ve captured a magical silent moment that speaks volumes. Happy Photo Challenge.

    • Thanks ever so much, Sally. Winter appears to be slowly relinquishing its hold on us, with a few moments of grabbing us again, so I’m hoping that signs of spring will be slowly emerging from the slowly melting snow. However, that can also be rough as it might be overnight and tomorrow morning when precipitation will begin as snow, then as it warms up, transition to ice et al and a right mess. We’ll see what happens.

That says Winter, all right. Good job, Janet.

  7. A very mysterious photo of an incredibly beautiful scene. The photo would look perfect on the book jacket of a romance novel set in Russia.
    Love it !!!!

  8. Jan Morrill says:

Stunning and stark. Beautiful begins to sound cliché in describing your photos! And thanks for the intro to Sally’s blog! I think I’ll give it a try. 😄

    • That’s a humbling compliment, Jan, and greatly valued. Sally’s challenge is so much fun and since the themes repeat, you can ready your post in advance, something I really like. I look forward to you joining.

Absolutely beautiful, stark scene. Frosty and cold, yet somehow serene too. I’d like to see that tree in spring 🙂

  11. This is just beautiful.

  12. Emilio Pasquale says:

Janet, it seems like forever since I visited. This image is very serene. Actually I was going to say surreal but that doesn’t suit it as well. You are one heck of an artist in the way you see and process images!

    • Praise from the praiseworthy is always valued, Emilio. I’m glad you found time to stop by, but I know that life gets busy and there are many blogs. Hope you enjoy your week!

  13. Wow, simply wonderful!

    • I’m glad you think so, Lisa. Won’t be long now and all the snow will be gone. We’re supposed to get a “wintery mix” this morning which will then turn to rain and much of the next 10 days will be above freezing.

  14. ooo this is a favourite for me. It personifies the happy feelings I have when I think about cozy winter mornings looking out on the snow. Love the vignette effect. It reminds me of a foggy window.
