I have a difficult time getting away from photos of nature, but this week I did (sort of.) My first black and white photo is of roots next to a sidewalk; the second, broken bits of concrete or cement. Perhaps this is a metaphor for our existence–nature and man-made occupying the same area. Make of them what you will as metaphor. Just enjoy them.

Certainly, one of the narratives is the juxtaposition of Mother Nature and human nature. The first image also has the yin/yang of the straight lines of the concrete and the shapes of the roots. Happy Photo Challenge.
And a happy challenge to you as well, Sally. Thanks for always linking me as I’m almost always out walking in the park when you post. 🙂 Have a great week.

Rigid and imposing versus organic and adaptive. Hmmmm.
🙂 Metaphors are everywhere, Maggie.

The metaphor is quite apt.
I’m glad it worked, Nadine.

The roots pic is sinister! Disturbing. Great!!! 🙂
🙂 It is a bit creepy, isn’t it, Laura? More so in B&W than in what little color it had. Reminds me a bit of snakes.

I love the first one – it is most intriguing.
I’m glad you liked it, Suzanne. One of the reasons I like it is that it doesn’t appear to be what it really is, at least until you look at it very carefully.

Great entry, Janet. What I thought of after seeing these photos and reading your thoughts, is that nature always seems to adapt to the man made interferences.
Nature will always win out eventually, I think. But even when we think everything is dead, there’s so much beauty to be seen.

Lovely studies of black and white and texture. The first one looked like worms or snakes when I first saw it.

Reminds me of that, too, Carol.
