Photo Rehab…I see dead people.

Probably the best kept secret in the history of movies was the ending to “The Sixth Sense.”  Once you knew that the boy saw dead people, everything you thought you knew turned on its head and the movie was completely different.

I see dead plants…or at least I see the beauty in them.  Here are a few of the end-of-season beauties I’ve come across on recent walks in the park.  Considering that in the northern hemisphere, today is the first of autumn, I think it’s appropriate time to post them.  Perhaps they’ll get you thinking differently about dead people…er, plants.  But one of the exciting things these plants, as you can see, most of them contain the seeds of next year’s life.  The cycle of life.

Great photos of something most people wouldn’t even pause to look at.

I love my walks at the end of summer, as everything turns brown and gold. Beautiful pictures, beautiful plants.

    Interesting perspective!

It is good to see the seed heads left in situ for the birds. So often we rush to tidy up for our own sensibilities and neglect to consider the winter wildlife. Lovely photos, Janet!

    • Lynda, these photos are all taken in the park where I walk every week. Although they do cut some things down, many are left for the birds or other wildlife. Dupage County (Illinois) does a fabulous job with their many parks.

Great photos today, Janet. I get a real Adam-and-Eve/snake-in the-Garden-of-Eden vibe from the first photo. I love the purple color and the tendril seems alive to me. Ω

    • I know what you mean, Allan. I love those vines, although I’m not sure the plants the vines attach to feel the same. Glad you enjoyed the photos. I think there’s so much beauty at the end of the growing season, too.

Seeing dead plants is not quite as disturbing as seeing dead people. At least I don’t think so!

  8. Everyone of these is outstanding. Hard to pick a favorite. Love the title of the post

Beautiful — I love them too.

  10. I try to spend more time in the garden now watching for the changes, trying to see it all…Your photos are really great, they do make your point.

  11. So beautiful, Janet. It is a tribute to life….

  13. These look very exotic and other worldly Janet, almost alien life forms. I see them the way you do as you know from my own post – and I like the idea as you point, out of the cycle of life being contained within them! 🙂
