Today’s the day when we can say, at least on Sally’s blog and those of the participants, that everything really is black and white. In their last days, these natural beauties translate seamlessly into that medium. Like a person who ages well, age isn’t what you notice first, but the character and beauty of the details. As Rod Stewart once put it, “You wear it well.”

Great shots! I love the wildness of the second photo 😊
Thanks, Debbie. Reminds me a bit of a bad hair day. 🙂
janet
Haha! Love it 😊
hilarious!
Lovely images, especially the second!
Thanks, Sue. Each time we have this challenge, I realize how beautiful B&W can be.
janet
good morning, Janet
Looks like lion’s tail plants that I grow in my yard. Are they?
Randy
Randy, I have no idea. If so, I’m glad it’s no longer attached to the lion! 🙂
Happy Monday.

The close-up is beautiful. Good choice for B&W.
Glad you like them, Dan. B&W is so good with detail and at this time of year, when the color is vanishing, at least in most of the plants on the ground, it works perfectly.

How true!!!!
The light bathes so beautifully across the seed pod in the second image. Monochrome gives the viewer a chance to really appreciate the design of it. Well done. Happy Photo Challenge.
Thank you, Sally. I was walking this morning when you posted your beautiful shots. So much now is in the beige-black spectrum and with the dead plants and seed heads, B&W works so well.
Thanks for hosting the challenge. I always look forward to Mondays.

Hello Janet, what a great submission. And accompanied by an excellent reflection for the day.
I particularly like the details of the second image.
Good morning from the US, Lucile, and thanks. Black and white is wonderful for details, as you well know from your excellent portraits.
Have a wonderful day.
Well, I’m one day late! But it might be good morning to you too!
Have a wonderful new day too!
Thank you.
J. That bottom shot is extraordinary-the focus, light, the precision, even where you placed your signature. It’s like a great painting where the eye travels around and around and sees new details.
You put a smile on my face with that remark, other Janet. Thanks so much for brightening my morning.
janet
Fantastic detail in both images, Janet. 🙂
Thanks, Lisa. There’s so much beauty in these “dead” things.
Love both, Janet! The second one is really cool! 🙂
Glad you like them, Amy. Happy Monday.

You photograph it well! The second photo looks a little like a Rod Stewart’s hair wild and free!
Happy Monday
~C
You have me laughing at that one, Carol. It may be the color of his hair these days as well. 🙂
janet
Love them both. But I’m with the rest of the gang, the second one has so much movement it takes your breath away. I’ve been sad that things are getting less colorful around here, now I’m renewed with the idea of featuring more black and white for the texture.
B&W is great for texture, so you’ll have fun. All those dead seed heads and flowers have infinite textural possibilities.
janet
Both beautiful photos, Janet. Black and white definitely took both photos over the top.
I think you’re right, Angeline. At least it gives them a distinct and different flavor.
Lovely . What is the second one?
I’m not sure, Indira. The top of some dead plant.
janet
Okay, thanks.
I looked today while I was walking and I think it’s from a thistle. 🙂
great shots, Janet!
Thanks!
These are great! That second one reminds of a bad hair day! LOL! 😀
you like similar weeds and closeups like… so nice ☺
🙂 Thanks!
janet
This is a perfect subject for the challenge. You come up with great shots Janet. They always inspire me!
Amanda, what a lovely thing to say! You brightened my evening with that remark. Thanks.
janet
All true!! Enjoy your evening!
