Sitting on the deck with the latest Elizabeth George and a salted caramel macchiato in a red cup with Christmas decorations (free medium drink coupon) (next time get the mocha) bare toes luxuriate in unseasonable warmth eyes squint against the sun of a glorious day. I recklessly and willfully Squander time outside today riches that may not come again for months (foggy morning hours in the park stolen afternoon hours in the sun.) Housework will be there tomorrow (and when I go inside.) With the “fall back" time darkness arrives too quickly, breathing closely behind my back at 2:30, only two hours away. I close my eyes against the sun trying to interpret the black shapes that move against the orange behind my eyelids.

Janet, this is beautiful!!!
Thanks, Marion. My blog has gone from almost all writing to almost all photography. I’m hoping to get a little more balance or combine the two when possible.

I have the exact same problem, Janet. But please, do get your balance back, I love your words.
Have a wonderful weekend.
You as well, Marion, and thanks for the kind words.
Janet, what a treat to start my weekend! Beautifully written! Thank you and have a lovely weekend.
Lucile, I’m trying to get back to more writing, either solo or in conjunction with a photo. I’m so happy you liked it! It was a wonderful day.

Janet, don’t stop, it’s marvelous.
It has been beautiful weather this month. I hope we don’t pay for it later on. LOL
Have to enjoy each day as it comes, right? This morning it’s barely above freezing, but the sun is shining and it will get into the low 50’s, more seasonable weather. If it were just light more in winter, it would be even more lovely. I like winter, but cold and dark isn’t my favorite combination.

I never understood people taking medication for SAD, but after several days of darkness I begin to understand. The sun shining can get you through almost any kind of day.
I agree. I’d have a difficult time living where it was mostly dark for six months of the year.
Love this! I crawled right up into the words and they were ME. Nicely, nicely done!!
That’s an artful comment and one greatly appreciated, Julie. It’s a response every writer craves. Thanks.

I love this verse today. It is a great slice of life and just a bite of your day.

Thanks, Allan. I considered a photo along with it but wanted the words to paint the picture.

Well done. No photo is necessary.

Gorgeous Janet! The poem definitely speaks to me! Daylight savings truly effects me. I detest it getting dark so early. It is the hardest part of the year for me.
I know what you mean, Nicole. I believe we’re actually off daylight savings time now, but either way, the sum total hours of light are just less from now until almost the end of December, which is too long for me, too. 🙂 Glad you enjoyed the poem.

Janet – I love the thoughts in the parentheses – gave it such flow – laughing at the get the mocha next time – ☕️
Thanks! I use the parentheses on purpose (and for the purpose) so I really appreciate your comment. And I will be getting mocha the next time or a possibly a seasonal peppermint mocha. Love that chocolate.

Mmmm – all this Java mention (-and thinking of that medium sized red cup has me in the mood for a coffee. And I actually sampled my first mint mocha (iced) last week – we were at a place where they divide the mistakes and give them to customers – it was fun. And delicious
I work part time at a tea shop in Wheaton, Illinois and if we make one of our shakes (tea mix, milk, and ice), we routinely take whatever’s left and give out samples to customers. I’m not a coffee drinker, but I do like an occasional mocha or coffee concoction. 🙂
Well Janet I actually remember a few blog posts of yours from the time u were starting your job (if I am remembering correctly) but I did know you were in Wheaton – isn’t there a famous Christian college in your town?
Wheaton College, affiliated with Moody Bible Institute, I believer, is in Wheaton. Although I work there, we live in Naperville, a nearby city.
Yeah – that’s it- when I lived in Denver there were a few folks that loved loved loved that college – but I do not hear much of it anymore –
It’s still going strong.
