From Arizona, I’m taking a quick journey back to Germany for this church door. Isn’t virtual time travel great? And now back to my warm, sunny visit. If I don’t get to your Thursday Doors entry this week, please forgive me. I’m spending as little time online as possible and as much with family and nature as I can. Hopefully you’ll reap the photographic rewards soon. 🙂
Doors tell such a great story about the history of the building – super choice – it makes me wonder about all the happy moments that have been shared here!
Quite a few, I imagine, as the church is rather old and very beautiful inside.

Handsome, strong doors. 🙂
It’s a sturdy area, Judy. 🙂

This is such a handsome door. I love that you gave us such a close up view. I really like seeing the molding detail to accommodate the overlay strip in the center. The hinges are beautiful and the aging on the door tells a story of long service. Great choice!
Dan, I’ll have to go through my photos and post some of the inside of the church. The hinges are what caught my attention and are what make it special.

The hinges are beautiful!
They really are.
That is one stout looking door. It conjures up visions of Martin Luther.

And as a Lutheran, I find that very appropriate. 🙂 I can just see him nailing those 95 Theses to a door similar to this one.

What a solid old door!
It was, Sue, and opened into a gorgeous church.

Sounds good
What a fabulous choice you’ve made for your entry. Sturdy, no-nonsence planks provide the perfect foil for the spectacular ironwork and even a little mystery in the small windows at the top (light providers or very high openings to preview visitors?). It would be interesting to know a little of the history witnessed by these doors.
You’re right, vb, the history would be great. We weren’t there long enough for me to find out more, but as the church is so old, I know it’s seen a lot!

Very sturdy reassuring doors and I love hinges too.
So much attention to detail in these doors, Norm.

Nice! Sometimes you need to away from social media and spend time with family! Enjoy!
Very true and I am. 🙂
I do love the ironwork on this door – so beautiful
It certainly is, Raewyn.

Wow, definitely German crafted! Can’t remember I told you that I lived in Berlin (when it was W-Berlin!) for a year, and our first daughter was born there …
I didn’t know that. Must have been an interesting experience. Never thought I’d see the wall come down, but I’m happy I did!

Those hinges…… fantastic.
Glad you enjoyed them, Jean.

Magnificent door, love the wood, glass, and metal detail.
I’m pleased you liked them all as much as I did, Charlie.
janet
Beautiful hinges really enhance the sturdiness of the door.
Large, impressive doors cry out for large, impressive hinges. In this case, they got their wish. 🙂

Enjoy your family and nature time. They’ll both provide great material for your blog when you do return. Xx
I’m having a great time, Kerry. Yes, I’ll have blog material for some time, a great side benefit. 🙂
janet
I too love those hinges! Great door today!
Glad you enjoyed it. There were quite a few good ones there.

That’s a splendid hunk of a door Janet! Hinges to die for!
Glad you liked it, Jane.
