In 2011, my husband and I visited one of his sisters and her husband who were living in Provence at the time. We also took a short trip to Normandy, where my f-i-l once landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day. It was a memorable trip for many reasons, encompassing both the somber memories of WWII and the beauty of the south of France.
There were many attractive doors and doorways. Here is one.
Nice pink gate.
Thanks very much, Sherry.

What lovely colours.
Provence is full of beautiful colors, especially on the shutters of homes.

Looks so inviting!
My thought exactly, Aletta.

I Like the door. I also appreciate your FIL’s contribution to D-Day. Omaha Beach was hard fought, but so necessary.
A double thanks, Dan. It was one of the most interesting and sobering experiences of my life. The owner of the B&B where we stayed gave us a 10-hour tour (not free, I hasten to add) that was one of the best things we’ve ever done. We explored the second day and on the third, had another tour, this time of the English and Canadian sites. Fascinating!

Beautiful and inviting. Love the bell. 🙂
It (the whole thing) might look a bit odd where we live, but I’d love to have it.

Looks like a lovely spot to sit a spell on a nice day. This must have been a memorable trip for a lot of reasons 🙂
It was a wonderful trip, Norm.

The unknown is what is engaging about your capture.
Thanks, Sally. The feeling of wanting to see what’s inside the gate and to sit there and relax is almost overwhelming.

This entrance is so pretty, Janet. 🙂
I thought so, too, Sylvia.
What a lovely doorway! I just love the gardens and plants 🙂
I must admit, Connie, that I would love to have something similar.
janet
Sadly our growing season is too short up here to have a garden like that…but one can dream 😊
Pink is an unusual colour for a wall but it suits this one perfectly. Your photo reminds me of Spain, where the garden is often an extension of the home and the gate serves as the ‘front door’ with a bell or intercom for visitors. It looks so relaxing and inviting.
I agree, Jean. Just the spot for sitting with friends on a warm summer evening with a bottle of something delicious.

It’s lovely. I like the combination of the bluish-purple leaves of the climber against the pink walls.
Someone did an outstanding job, didn’t they, Joanne?
janet
Yes, indeed. I appreciate it all the more since I don’t seem to have that decorating instinct.
I know the feeling.
Beautiful gate and the patio looks well taken care of. Also love the flowers above the gate – such an interesting contrast! So do you still live in that area?
We never lived there, my sister-in-law and brother-in-law did. They now live in northeastern France in a completely different but also lovely area.

The NE of France I’ve never been. Is is more like Germany?
Maybe in some ways but still rather French. Just not like Provence. But quite nice.
Very nice. I especially like whatever that is growing along the top.
I agree, Patti. I like it, too.

What I’d do for some flowers right now! We just got an inch of white snow. Boo hoo. Pretty Janet! 🙂
We’re having yet another day of rain/snow mix and wind. Sigh. As much as I enjoy winter, I’m more than ready for spring now.
janet
Stunning, just love the colours
Wouldn’t you love to have such a gate, garden, and patio? I know I would. Maybe some day.
