Walk with me, part 4 (and we’ll go fishing, too.)

We’ve made it thought the park and back to the parking lot, saddened that the best part of the morning is over.  Or is it?  As I drive the van toward the main road, I look to the right, to where the water is slow, forming a large pond/small lake.  Behold!  A fisherman!  Pull over, park, and find a rock.  Limber up the clicking finger, focus the telephoto, and we’re off. As Yogi Berra (not Bear) once said, “It ain’t over ’til it’s over.”  And we have a few more photos to take.

Waiting; the personification of patience.  Animalification?

Stealthily on the move.  Is that a feather duster in the back?  🙂

Streeeetch.  (I’d say “Craning”, but as it’s an egret, that might get confusing.) 🙂

I sat for a long while on a warm rock, taking photos and just watching.  When I finally rose to leave, you guessed it.  Plop.  Another frog missed.  But I did get a shot of one recently and that will likely be coming up Tuesday.

Have a marvelous weekend and thanks for walking with me.

Birds and water – always a good mix 🙂

  3. Sandra says:

I had to smile at the phrase “A fisherman! Pull over, park and find a rock”. That has quite a different connotation amongst the boating sorority, Janet. 🙂 (Joking of of course).

Beautiful. I like the muted reflections.

  7. Nice heron story.
Photo tip: There are several ways of shooting for proper white exposure. First do a test and see if you have blown out white (blinkies). Point metering with highlight mode. Then use some exposure compensation until you don’t have any blown out whites. Digital cameras will expose for the whole scene which doesn’t work with white birds. you can read this http://www.firstlighttours.com/photographing-white-birds.html

    • Thanks, Sherry. I’m very much an amateur when it comes to my Nikon. I’ll set your article aside for later in the summer when I have a bit more time. (Getting ready for two trips right now as well as work (paid and at home.)

  8. Stunning photos, glad you found a comfy rock.

  9. Very pretty! Peaceful. I haven’t sat on a rock and watched nature in peace in three toddler years… Lol.

    • Ah, yes, I remember those days. 🙂 Enjoy them while you can and when your husband/babysitter/friend can watch for a bit, take that time to relax in nature. The days with them fly too quickly and nature is always there.

  10. Nature and her inspiration…

  11. Very like some of my recent lake shots. It’s like déja vous all over again – as Yogi Berra (not bear) once said. But very nice shots though Janet. Seems we’re both a tad smarter than the average bear – as u-no-hu bear one said – on more than one occasion. Cheers!
