Colmar, one of France’s most picturesque cities, is an historic town filled with colorful, half-timbered houses resembling old-time London if someone had run amok there with pastels. But Colmar also boasts Little Venice, a bit of river just widen enough for narrow boats filled with passengers to ply their ways, while those of us on the banks and bridges instead ply our cameras.

Such a romantic city!!! PedroL
It’s certainly beautiful, although when we were there, it was quite crowded.

I can imagine!! I still have to go there 🙂 PedroL
I hope you make it.
Lovely picture Janet. Somehow I don’t see us taking our boat up there… 😉
No, it’s a bit narrow even for a narrow boat (in the British sense). We didn’t take a boat ride, but the river really adds to the beauty of the area.

Ah, yes, it’s great…I have been there!
I’ve seen Colmar on the list of “Ten Most Beautiful Cities in Europe” or some such list, so I wanted to see it if possible. It was well worth visiting.

I love Alsace
I love what I’ve seen and hope to see more one day!
janet
Hope you do…be sure to visit Eguisheim – I shall post later for ‘Narrow’
This is beautiful. I like the flowers on the side. I would love to explore this narrow water.
It would be fun to take one of the boats and see the beauty from the river.

Oh, that is just beautiful!
It truly was, Norm.

What a charming looking place. Great shot for the challenge, Janet. 🙂
Thanks very much, Sylvia. Colmar lived up to everything I heard and read about it.

Looks lovely – I’d love to be there now!
Perhaps you’ll make it there one day. Well worth the visit.

What an I intriguing place …
It is, Janet, with so many beautiful places to explore. Good food, too, although more German than French.

It’s now on my list. In ink. Thanks!!
You’ll love it. You have to get to the historic downtown, though. The rest looks very industrial, at least the way the navi sent us!
So lovely!
It was beautiful, Aletta.

Colmar is one of my favourite haunts… I lived in the Alsace for 10 years. Colmar is magic during the Christmas fairs – mulled wine, gingerbread, snow, Christmas trinkets… sigh. Thanks for the free ticket to happy memories 🙂
My pleasure. I can just imagine how magical it is at Christmas!! Perhaps one day..

Beautiful Janet
Thanks, Nicole!
Beautiful Janet!
