Thursday Doors…Naperville doors

We live in Naperville, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago.  Joseph Naper, with family and friends, arrived in July 1832, giving us a fairly long (for the US) history as well as a great place to live in the here and now.  Here are a few non-historic doors from my wanderings.

  1. Dan Antion says:

Very nice doors! The center one (on my phone) is very similar to our front door. I love the color

  2. I live in Brooklyn and lately I’ve been wandering around taking pictures of doors, too. Such a simple concept, but sometimes you find some pretty awesome creations! Lovely post 🙂

  3. Norm 2.0 says:

Nice ones Janet. What an amazing coincidence that the folks who own that second chose to put your name above their door 😉
Sorry it must be this heat turning me into a goof.

  4. That’s a lovely door and porch in the second image, Janet. Those plants really set it off, too.

  5. Great finds! Wish I had the SUV in front of the garage doors in the 3rd photo. 🙂

I used to live in Arlington Heights – just north of Naperville if I’m not mistaken. Lots of lovely old homes around there.

Beautiful garage doors! And also the front(?) door. Great finds Janet, and thanks for visiting me!

    • I had an enjoyable day walking around shooting doors. I have to get a little braver and get closer to some of them, but there are lots to go. Yes, that is a front door and a beauty at that.

Love those garage doors. And I agree with Norm that it was nice for those people to put your name above the door. And the year, too! 🙂

    • What can I say? People in the Midwest are just thoughtful. 🙂 I’d just like a three-car garage, even with ordinary doors: one space for the van, one for the car, and one for Bill’s three bikes and everything else.

  9. Love the last one with the matching garage door. 🙂

    • Judy, those are actually all garage doors. There are other houses that have the same set-up: two garage doors together and then another sort of off to the side. But I’m sure the house doors are lovely as well.

Nice door pics, Janet! I use to work in your area, but moved to Springfield in 1990 and have not been to Naperville/Aurora area since! We have a 3 car garage and I thought I had tons of room… funny how the junk procreates rapidly and overtakes space!!

    • We had the same thing happen when we lived in Cleveland for 27 years in a house with an attic, basement, and four large bedrooms. We started with not very much and ended with way too much. 🙂

I’m a fan of those garage doors.
The Mercedes isn’t too shabby either 😉

I love those fancy-dancy doors on the garage! I always thought hanging doors like on the dilapidated shed(?) at the top would be cool in a house, but I’d probably pull them off track and they’d fall on my foot and I’d say a very naughty word and the angels would weep.

    Nice collection!

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, that or the other thing.
