There’s such a different feel between the B&W version and the sepia version that I thought I’d post both and let you decide which you like better. I think the B&W feels more like a winter shot, the sepia like an old postcard or stereoscopic photo. What do you think?

I’m not usually the biggest fan of sepia, but in this case I think I prefer it
Thanks for the feedback, Sonya.

They are both lovely. I like the black and white one!
I do, too, Georgie. Have a great weekend.

The sepia gives a warmer, timeless feel, while the black and white version is very cool and wintery
I think that’s the difference, Raewyn. Just what each viewer prefers or brings to the shot. Hope you’re having a great weekend. Pouring rain here this morning.

This is a lovely shot Janet. I like the sepia edit, but prefer the black and white. It captures winter so well.
I think the B&W is my favorite, too. Funny how they feel so different.

I like the B&W version. And, I like look at that when it’s going to be 90 degrees 🙂
Thankfully it’s not that hot here today, Dan, but it was muggy after the big storm and rain.

Nice comparison…each can be substantiated. But the black and white focuses more on the contrast and detail and tone.
Thanks, Sally. I always appreciate your comments.

Sepia is softer but I do prefer the winter look!
I do, too, Patricia. Thanks for taking time to stop by and comment.

Stunning. Sepia is really tough to apply in a compelling way, but I think it really suits this image. Because it is so graphic and timeless, something about it just works.
Thanks, Hannah. Hope you’re having a great weekend.

I vote for the b&w. Would be interesting to tally tastes by gender.
Randy
Maybe the NSA already has the information, Randy. 🙂

Are gender preferences related to national security?
I’m sure Donald and Hillary would have significant opinions on this,
I think according to the NSA, anything might be related to national security.
Gorgeous reflections! I prefer the black and white, but then I’ve never been a fan of sepia.
Sepia reminds me of old postcards. I prefer the B&W, too.
janet
Sepia is still keeping that winter feel.. I flip between B&W and sepia, just depends on the picture.. in this case sepia wins my vote 😊
Thanks for weighing in. 🙂

I use sepia rarely and am not a great fan. The black and white is cleaner and crisper and does convey a wintery feeling. The sepia just misses for me at feeling like an old print and therefore takes me out of the image to the processing, if you know what I mean!
I understand. I like the B&W, too.
janet
In the black and white you can see the reflection of the branches in the water a little more clearly. Both are nice shots though!
Thanks, jan. It looks good in color, too. 🙂

Lovely images, Janet. 🙂
Thanks, Sylvia. Glad you liked them.
Strange, I think just the opposite, that the sepia looks more like winter. The black and white feels more like a walk in the park of an old park at a castle from around 17 th century 🙂
What matters is that you like and enjoy the shots, Lena. 🙂
janet
And I do like them 😀
Beautiful trees for this black and white challenge. Thanks for playing.
Always fun, Cee.
