I almost didn’t participate this week, feeling mostly brain dead when it came to thinking about editing. I know photomontage is the new thing, which made me want to try something else, but nothing came to mind that felt fresh. So I put together two versions of a photo of a Minnesota windmill taken while driving back from Wyoming (with an iPhone held to the side and clicked while I watched the highway) and two shots of feathery things that looked as if they would be blown away (literally) by the windmill. As Sally always asks, which do you prefer and why?

I think I like the second onebest. The red in the first is a bit dominating I think. Be careful taking phone photos while driving. I was parked at traffic lights on the weekend and checking the time on my phone. Aburly rough looking guy on a Harley parked next to me started abusing me for using my phone while driving. He was rather scary.
I only take them if I’m paying attention to the road and not taking a photo, Suzanne, and I try to do it when no one else sees. 🙂

Good idea 🙂 The results are excellent.
Thanks, Suzanne. I’m glad you think so.

Janet, well, you certainly came back from your lack of enthusiasm. I kept going back and forth between the two. The second seems to have a more subtle approach to the subjects, giving them a space to cross into each others territory in our minds. The pale colors and the thought of the windmill churning and the wisps being wisps. I really enjoyed . Happy Photo Challenge.
I started with the second one, Sally, but the wisp on the left seemed too pale. When I re-did it, I ended up with something a bit different. Glad you enjoyed them, though.

Well, your enthusiasm came back in a big way 🙂
I like the first better, it seems to be a happy explosion with color and life.
Glad you like them, Angeline. I figured quite a few people would do photomontage, but I couldn’t come up with anything else that seemed creative. 🙂

These are both really fascinating, Janet. I find the second one is more ethereal, so I’ll go with that one. 🙂
That’s the one I like best, too, Sylvia. Thanks for weighing in. 🙂 Happy Monday.

Both images bring a different feel. I rather like the more dramatic feel of the first one, while the second one is a lot more dreamlike.
My thoughts and feelings exactly, Raewyn. Thanks for the discerning comment.

I’m with Raewyn on this one Janet. Both edits are lovely, but I definitely prefer the first. That beautiful burst of red really lifts the image.
Glad you like it, Su, no matter which one.

🙂
Gorgeous! 🙂
Thank you, ma’am! 🙂 Hope you’re getting in some relaxation and time is slowing down a bit.

Another tough call, but I’m ultimately more drawn to the first one. I feel like it has more intensity and depth of texture because of the higher contrast. I do really like the processing on both, though.
That’s what attracted me to that one, Hannah. But I go back and forth. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by with another comment.

I prefer the first, for its bolder colour. Everyone sees something different in montages.
Very true. Amazing how simple they are with all the editing apps now.
janet
I love that, Janet!! I have still got so much to learn!
I do, too, Aletta. I only play with editing a bit and don’t really have time to do more right now.

i like your first image the most, Janet. The inset rectangle on the left is a nice compliment to the top-to-bottom, edge-to-edge rectangle on the right, The deep reddish color in the left rectangle adds a lot to the overall image for me. A good job this week, congrats.

Thanks, App Man! 🙂

I like the first one since the lines of the whispy’s are so defined, but I enjoy the ethereal quality of the second as well. 🙂
I went back and forth the same way. Choice is part of the fun. 🙂
janet
Both are beautifully done. I like the 2nd one a little better. 🙂
Not much done to either, Amy, just two beautiful places on two different continents. 🙂 Glad you enjoyed them.
