Weekly Photo Challenge: Mirror…reflections over coffee

How can it already be September?  The summer, for us in the northern hemisphere, has flown by, school has started, and people are thinking thoughts of fall, or of spring in the other half of the world.  Fridays come and go, bringing new photo challenge themes each week.  This Friday’s theme is “Mirror“, a theme that even now brings Snow White and the Wicked Stepmother to mind.  But I don’t have a wicked stepmother, so I’ll have to reflect on something else instead. (Although I guess my photo really is “Mirror, mirror, on the wall!”)

This former door, probably from a medicine cabinet, provided interest in a now-defunct coffee shop. I like the depth it gives an otherwise uninteresting wall and the character provided by not using a conventional mirror and frame.

That’s an interesting way to liven up the wall. I like the two mirrored doors.

Great capture Janet! Yes this summer for some reason seemed to go at breakneck speed compared to last summer for me. I think it was because I traveled way too much so I never felt like I was able to get into a routine. Although it was tough when the kids were toddlers and I spent those long hard days at the park and keeping them busy it felt like summer was forever and every day until 6 when my husband got home. Sometimes I miss those days!

    • Maybe you need to choose to travel just a bit less and take the time to enjoy your family and home. 🙂 Travel is seductive, but the family time goes by much too quickly and can never be re-lived.

Very true! This has been a unique year however as I did a trip in May with my mother and sister who I rarely get to see, and then one in July with my dad who I also don’t see enough, then several family trips throughout the summer. So it has been with the kids or family but the timing was too clumped together. Yes, time does go by very fast. I am so fortunate I’ve been able to be a stay at home mom. 🙂

  11. Tina Schell says:

Glad you skipped the bean Janet – love this one and it’s much more unique!

  12. viveka says:

Reflection over a cup of coffee is never wrong. My pick is the lower image.

  13. Ruth says:

Unique response to the challenge. Really nice.

  14. Well done, Janet! I, too, like the way the ceiling tiles reflects its angles and curves through the otherwise rectangular frame.

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, that or the other thing.
