I love leaving for a trip very early in the morning, when it’s cool, quiet, no longer quite dark, and most people are (hopefully) still in bed.
All glory comes from daring to begin.

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.

The perfect time of day to be on the roads, as the world around you is slowly waking up. Have fun
It was a short but very enjoyable trip. I listened to three books on CD during the drive out and back, so that was fun as well.

sounds perfect! x
It was and, as I enjoy driving, the day was quite nice. 🙂

I like it to drive into a sun rise… it is like a good sign that this brandnew day brings only good things to me :O)
The only downside is when the sunrise is right in front of you. Then once the sun is up, it’s impossible to see! 🙂
janet
Yep, I love the early morning light…but don’t get to see it that often!
With the days getting shorter, it gets easier. I left Friday morning at 4:30 am, though, so it wasn’t hard and I had a lot of darkness first. 🙂

Beautiful images, and the Proust quote is one of my all-time favourites 🙂
I’m happy you enjoyed them all, Ruth. 🙂
janet
I really like that first quote. It is so appropriate for that early morning feeling 🙂
Finding good quotes is so easy with internet, Joanne, one of the good things about it. 🙂 That early morning feeling is such a lovely one, all the better when I don’t have to work later.
janet
Lovely shots, and I especially like the Proust quote – rather than seeking out new places – looking at what we know with fresh eyes.
My goal is to do both as often as possible, Tish. 🙂

There’s nothing quite like a beautiful sunrise followed by a tasty breakfast. That first photo is a beauty, Janet. The soft muted colors and the touch of ground fog brings a hush to my morning, today.
Thanks,
Ω
I’m happy to start your morning quietly, Allan. I hope it’s a lovely day.
janet
So far, so good. Thanks, Janet.

Oh, how fortunate to see such grandeur. I wish that I could prod myself to see more sunrises. Especially enjoyed that first capture. Love the Proust quote.
Sally, the sunrise is getting later and later, so you should be able to enjoy more of them soon. 🙂
janet
That’s true. Will try to muster my enthusiasm for sprinting at that hour.
My favourite time of day – it always feels like I have the entire world to myself 🙂
I like to be walking in the park at sunrise, but driving is a good time, too…as long as it’s on a trip and not to work. 🙂 In the Chicago area, it’s difficult to find a time when you feel that you have the road to yourself, though!!
janet
Your word descriptions and pictures had me there recalling for myself the pleasures of early journeys. Thanks for sharing.
Randy
Happy to share. Thanks for commenting so often. Hope your day goes well.

What a gorgeous morning you had to the be on the road! I love both quotes.
It certainly was beautiful, the kind that makes the phrase “my heart swelled” vivid.
janet
It’s a great time to be on the road. I’ve left on trips at that time and I’ve been on some overnight road trips where we get tp see the sun as it starts to rise. That always gives a new burst of energy.
I agree, Dan. There’s a feeling of possibilities and freshness.
janet
I love early morning walks and drives, too. Always something beautiful to see as soon as it’s light enough! Loved the quotes you chose.
Hi, Madison. Thanks for stopping by. I’m a big fan of early mornings walks, too. Glad you enjoyed the quotes.
janet
Beautiful colours in the sky. Love that wide-open landscape.
The prairie landscape is beautiful and relatively flat, allowing all that openness. The colors were wonderful and the sun was a enormous ball of orange when it rose. Hard to capture with the iPhone, though.
janet
I love misty landscapes!
I do, too, jan, and I like the feel it gives the day.
janet
Beautiful Janet!
Thanks, Nicole. I do love a beautiful start to a road trip.
janet
Me too!
Being out in the early morning is also the best tip for finding great wildlife action in South Africa’s wild places, and therefore I concur wholeheartedly with your sentiments, Janet!
It’s the best time for seeing wildlife at the park where I walk, too. 🙂
