I’m intrigued by the difference in feel made by a slender dark frame as opposed to a lighter one. In western South Dakota, this bit of rainbow appeared against a dark sky and bright fields. It was as if the heavens had been rent, allowing these slashes of color to escape, nature at her simple, stunning best.

It is an amazing sight! Love it!
It was there for a good long time, giving me lots of time to enjoy it.

That’s great!
I’ve never seem a rainbow fragment before – great photo, Janet.
Thanks, Dan. I took it from my van while driving, extremely carefully, one hand on the wheel and eyes ahead except for a quick look to see where I was pointing the phone. Not many people on the interstate, I hasten to add, and quite a few shots I had to delete. 🙂 But there were no good places to stop and I couldn’t let it get away.
Janet, stirring capture…I seem to be responding more to the black frame, which makes the colors and rainbow pop more. Happy Photo Challenge.
Sometimes you unexpectedly see something remarkable and this was one of those times. I like the black, too.

What a beautiful sight, Janet. This is the first time that I have seen a fragment of a rainbow. It is like a glimpse under the cover of a coloring book.

It’s the first time I’ve seen anything like this, too, Allan. It was a beautiful view.
Totally worth the read 😍 loved it http://www.misskymmiee.com

, a brush stroke from above –
Isn’t that what all rainbows are? 🙂 This must have been a preliminary stroke. 🙂

I like the light frame what a magical capture.
It was a magical moment, Carol.

the darker frame definitely improves the image
Thanks for weighing in on the frame and for taking the time to comment (and visit.)

Slender dark for me. Interesting rainbow. I don’t thin I’ve ever seen one without at least part of an arc.
It lasted for quite some time, too.
