“Water” is this week’s photo challenge theme with a variety of possible interpretations.  This is from the river in the park where I walk as often as possible.  I stood there for a long time mesmerized by the patterns and colors.

  1. I love the patterns, too. Great photo for backgrounds too, Janet.

  2. viveka says:

    Janet, love this image!!!!!

  3. Strongly seductive abstraction…

  4. Cathy Ulrich says:

Love this, Janet. What a perfect choice for the challenge!

  5. wonderful choice! Like the Patterns
    Happy Friday

  6. I am amazed that this is a photo. It has a quality of stitching about it ~ I thought it was a blanket or something handmade. It is a magical river with all those ripples!

  7. Laura says:

That image would make a great wall hanging. I love the pattern.

  8. Anita says:

If the still capture itself is so hypnotic, the moving water would’ve been a thousand times more so!

  9. bythebriny says:

    Beautiful shimmer and texture.

  10. Nice one J. Was expecting a shot of that dappled grey horse of yours!

    • No dapples on her, MB, just grey and the bit of pink around her nose. She’s no longer with us, having been put down over a year ago. But she’s buried where we go every summer, out on the ranch, so that’s nice to know.

      • Nice to hear. We bought a young calf many years ago from a farmer friend who had many horses roaming freely with his cattle. All of our cattle were dead scared of the single horse we had roaming with ours and for fun he would go charging at them from time to time just to see them scattering in all directions. All except the young calf that is who was un-scared and who would stand his ground unmoving. The horse would stop mere inches from him, having charged at full speed from distance, sticking his front feet into the ground and dropping his head low down. On sunny days you might see the calf and horse lying together in the grass with the calfs head resting lazily on the neck or stomach of the horse. Never saw the likes of that different-animal friendship in all my years on the farm. And I just now see that the challenge is actually H2O, not dappled. Silly MB!

      • What a great story, MB. Thanks for sharing it. There are many unlikely animal friendships. Often racehorses have special friends (cats, dogs, donkeys) that travel with them and keep them sane. My s-i-l’s dogs, when in Provence, had an interesting relationship with the two donkeys next door. They did a lot of playing while separated by wire fencing.

  11. Sandra says:

I’d be tempted to have that printed onto canvas for wall art. So peaceful… Have a lovely weekend, both of you.

  12. happyface313 says:

    I really like that, Janet.

  14. Helen C says:

I stared at it for a long time… Thanks, Janet.
    Have a wonderful day.

  15. Very nice, Janet. While I love a placid, mirror-like lake shot, patterns can be mesmerizing.

  16. solaner says:

great, Janet! We’ve similar images again. but, while I have the wild aspect in my image, you’ve portraited the calm character.

  17. Allan G. Smorra says:

Nice photo, Janet. You got quite a bit of texture out of the water. Good POV.

  18. dimlamp says:

    Impressive capture, well done.

  19. jensine says:

Love this – nearly like a web of water
