A friend and I stopped by Super H Mart, a Korean grocery store carrying an enormous variety of Asian foods, rice cookers, etc.  While browsing, we came across these adorable, and no doubt tasty snacks. I may have to try them one day, as I love almost anything stuffed with red bean paste!  They are oddballs in the cutest sort of way.

  1. Talk about too cute to eat! That said, I’m also a fan of bean paste sweets, so I probably wouldn’t be able to resist them if they ever crossed my path. I’d just need to buy two packages so I could eat one and keep one.

So cute but I would have to try one 🙂

  5. Madhu says:

    The cutest indeed! 😀

  6. Emilio Pasquale says:

Oh, yeah. Sounds tasty. Red bean paste! Are you kidding me? 😉

  7. Ssooo cute … great odd ball, as always, Janet.
Do post if you decide to try them.
I have an Asian market near me. I may look for them.
    Have a fabulous weekend.

Such a fun photo for this week’s odd balls. Thanks Janet. 😀

  9. Great subject for the COB challenge Janet, I can’t say I’ve ever seen anything like them here in the UK. I see many people have commented on liking red bean paste, is that a sweet paste, or a savoury paste?

    • It’s sweet, made with adzuki beans, and SO good. If you find anywhere selling Japanese foods, you might find some. I know there are some in London, as we found them there some years ago when we were there. But in the manner of all Japanese “sweets”, they have very understated sweetness.

      • Thank you Janet for all the info 🙂
I shall have to try and get hold of some, I know there’s almost no chance here in Fife, but it may be possible to find somewhere selling it in Edinburgh, it sounds quite nice 🙂

The Super H Mart here is terrific. I have not been there in quite some time. The variety of seafood is something to see. The store is enormous. I may need to make a trip there to find these treats.

  11. Inger says:

Must be the funnies food I have seen in a while! And what is red bean paste? Is it just red beans made to a paste? 🙂

  12. Joanne Sisco says:

I had no idea red bean paste was a sweet. Now I’m going to be tempted to try it. Damn 😉

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, that or the other thing.
