In the summer sun with blue skies, this fountain has the look of an abstract dandelion. In black and white, it takes on a different look, although no less attractive. Again I marvel at the ease of seeing how a color shot looks in black and white, accepting or rejecting, cropping, etc. with a digital camera or phone.
Although I’ll see many of you throughout the week, I want to wish everyone in the US a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving. Take some time each day to count your blessings. There are so many.
Randy asked to see the original, so I’ll include it here.
You clicked a water fountain with your mobile camera ?
It’s a large fountain in downtown Naperville and looks much like a dandelion when the water is flowing. Not a drinking fountain, though. 🙂

Yes True
Love the movement of the water. Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂
Thanks, Johanna, and happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well.

I love black and white photography, it captures so much more, or maybe it is because the eye can concentrate on the image rather than the colours. Hope you have a lovely peaceful Thanksgiving week, we do indeed have much to be thankful for. X
Thanks, Susan. Black and white can really highlight details that we might miss in color. It’s wonderful that it’s so easy to use both with digital photography. I don’t know if you celebrate Thanksgiving, but I know from your blog you have many things for which to be thankful!

Beautiful picture!
Thanks. I’m happy you think so and thanks for dropping by.

show us the original….
I was going to put it in my reply, but realized I don’t know how to do that. 😦 I’ll add it to the post.

I like the original, too. Hard to see that’s fountain water.
I like it lots.
Randy
I’m glad. It’s a very cool fountain..
Janet, I send you warm wishes for a memorable holiday that does exactly what you recommend: have us focus on the good in our lives. Enjoyed the abstract qualities of your image. Happy Photo Challenge.
Thanks, Sally, and a most blessed and happy Thanksgiving to you as well. I’m looking forward to the few days of down time. 🙂

Great photo. Looks like you were standing inside the fountain!
Thankfully, I was not! Just did a bit of cropping in addition to getting as close as possible and zooming.

This photo makes me want to say Splat! Splash! Boom! it has such a kinesthetic look.
Yes Happy Holidays

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, too, Carol.

This is a great shot Janet. I wouldn’t have guessed it was a fountain. Happy Thanksgiving.
Thanks, Su. It’s a pretty cool fountain, but now closed for winter, of course. 🙂 Thanks for the Thanksgiving wishes. We’ll be at my s-i-l’s and there will be plenty food, fun, and time to relax.
Sounds lovely. I find the idea of a fountain closing for winter really strange. Here we’re more likely to turn it off in summer to save water!
If it’s not shut off and drained, the freezing water would break the pipes and metal parts.
😃 I thought that might be the reason. I remember freezing pipes from my time in the UK, but hadn’t thought of it in relation to fountains.
That is a cool capture!
Thanks, Amy. I’m glad you like it.

Very cool abstract.
Thanks, Karen. It’s a mesmerizing fountain!

Beautiful both ways, but I have to admit that I think I like the original better. The cool blue just makes the water look so clean and refreshing.
I like the blue, too, Hannah, but it makes a good B&W, too.
