Today I’m trying something I’ve never done during the five years I’ve been blogging. (My fifth anniversary was just after the beginning of the new year.)  I hope you’re sitting dow when I tell you that…

I’m going to take a cyber break.

Whaaaaaaat?

Yes, it’s true.  I’m leaving today for Arizona to spend ten days with my parents, who don’t have internet.  While I’m there, I usually head over to the library every day to do my blog, read other blogs, check email, etc. as quickly as possible. This year, I’m going to not do most of those things. Although I’ll check (and delete most) email, I’m not going to be blogging or reading blogs during that time.  I will respond to any comments, however.

I anticipate it will be very difficult, because I haven’t missed a blogging day in five years and I enjoy it.  I also enjoy reading everyone’s blogs.  But I also anticipate that it will be both freeing and relaxing and that it’s something I need the discipline to do.

So TTFN.  I’m already longing to see y’all on the 31st.  In the meantime, all the best and don’t spend too much time online!

In the words from a book I read many, many, many years ago:

Don’t make a stranger of yourself.  Don’t forget me.  ‘Bye.

  6. have a wonderful ten days. I think you will enjoy the break immensely, I did it when we went skiing last year and after the first day found it strangely liberating, alas, it didn’t take too long to get back into the cyber world afterwards!

    • Susan, you’re right. I’m actually longing for the break, must as I love it all. I know I’ll miss everyone, but I also know you’ll all be here when I get back and I’ll have new stories and photos and be well-rested besides. 🙂

  9. Hey, enjoy your free time away from the net. There’s nothing wrong with having a little down time, matter of fact, I have no doubt you will make the most of your free time. Enjoy your visit in the sun with your parent, and. I applaud your making the time to visit. I’m seeing a trend here – they raised you right, you raised your girls right. 🙂 Safe travels.

  10. Enjoy.
I remember when I stopped blogging every day. It was difficult.
But it’s all, whether blogging, not blogging, plugged in or out, part of a process of recognizing what was told me was really, ultimately, an “inside job.”
    Again, Janet, enjoy.
