Door? What door? You can’t miss it, but you don’t really notice it. Just goes to show Philadelphia is more than historic doors!
Norm, our fearless leader, can be spotted periodically (but every Thursday) on his blog. You can also cat-ch other entries to the Thursday Doors challenge by clicking on the linky critter in his Thursday blog entry. It’s paws-atively addictive!
I love this idea!!!!
You could have a Weimaraner. 🙂

Now, now, Janet: this is NOT a ‘Wordless Wednesday’ post. You MUST give us some words to go with this picture so we don’t sit around scratching our heads all day.
Thursday Doors is where we post photos of cool doors and, although you probably don’t notice the door, this qualifies. We were walking around Philadelphia this weekend with our younger daughter and a friend and I saw (spotted) this amazing decoration. I had to include it because it’s most likely a once-in-a-lifetime sight. Better? 🙂
No, not really. I knew it was a door because of the label on the post, and you had said it was Philadelphia, but what I want to know is things like who put it there, does it have any significant meaning, does the door actually open, etc. I understood what kind of post it was, but I was just trying to be cute (or aggravating?) and insist that you give us some history. Great play on words in your title, by the way.
I have no background information, Sandra, so you’ll just have to speculate. 🙂 Glad you enjoyed the title and I knew you were being cute, but there’s no more to be had.
janet
Doggone it! I just know there has to be a story behind that — if only we could find it.
Purrr-fectly cheeky and fun Janet!!
It would have been cat-ostrophic if you hadn’t liked it. 🙂
That’s pretty cool. Easy to give directions to that place. Great photo!
“We’re the house with the gigantic cat at the door.” 🙂 You’re right about that, Dan.
janet
Love it!!
Pretty cool, isn’t it, Joanne. Guess they don’t want anyone using that door, though!!
janet
It raises the bar on the standard stone lion or dog statue 😉
If you’re going to block off an unused door, might as well do it in a unique style 😉
It certainly does, Joanne, and so many people have the stone lions. It’s funny that you say that, though, as I also found a dog statue that’s rather unique, although it’s not up against the door like this. You’ll get to see it one of these Thursdays.
oooh – sounds interesting! I’ll be looking for it 🙂
Cat Scratch Fever this week, Janet? Nice catch.
Ω
It certainly caught my eye, Allan. Not what you’d expect in an older neighborhood.
janet
It does stand out.
Ω
Oh, wow, that is just a wonderful shot for this challenge…well done for finding this, just brilliant!
Pretty cool, isn’t it, Vicky? I was so surprised, but instantly had to grab a shot for Thursday Doors.
janet
Neat! That’s a fab find! 🙂
It brought a smile to my face, Joey, and the phone/camera followed quickly. 🙂
janet
I smiled immediately as well 🙂
Wow! Is the chain for effect or to stop someone robbing the over-sized door knocker? Great find, Janet.
Ha, I have no idea, Jean, but I imagine you could cut that chain if you wanted to steal the cat. As the building is on a corner, a thief might be a bit conspicuous.
Definitely conspicuous, it’s not like you could hide it in your backpack. 🙂
Unless you’re Santa, perhaps. 🙂
I love it! Now I want one! lol
I have a feeling this is the only one of it’s kind, Marian. Oh, no, does that mean it will become extinct? Perhaps you need to commission one and they could mate, so that people could have little ones, which would be much more practical for many. 🙂
janet
I have a real cat, but he’s been neutered. Otherwise, he could mate with the statue and they could have little ones which could actually open the doors.
That could be dangerous, Marian. 🙂
I thought New Englanders knew how to deter someone from using the front door by putting a flower pot there. This takes it to a whole new level. 🙂 Great one, Janet.
🙂 This will do it, but certainly with pizzazz, Judy.
Still trying to figure out how this door works…such a unique door, where is it located? Someplace special to cats or just a home?
You know, I just grabbed the shot and we kept on walking, so I don’t recall. But it was either a home or a business. It’s in Philadelphia, not far from Rittenhouse Square.
janet
Kitty wants to come indoors obviously!
And who wants to mess with a kitten that size?
janet
That’s a neat idea!
I loved your intro to Norm’s Thursday Doors! It was paws-atively brilliant! 🙂
I’m glad it wasn’t a cat-astrophe, Deborah. 🙂 The whole pun thing is terrible cat-ching (see I did it again and didn’t even notice; had to go back and add the dash), but so much fun.
janet
You’re so witty! I never thing of stuff like this on the fly.
I have some weird pun gene, I guess. 🙂 I do love words and word play, always have.
Alternate title suggestion: How to Scare the Crap Out of Delivery People.
Awesome find. I can imagine that some seriously funny folks live there 🙂
It does make you wonder about who lives there and want to meet them, doesn’t it?
janet
Wow! 😀
That was my first thought as well, Sylvia. 🙂
janet
Haha -is this the backdoor of a zoo? Now I wonder what prompted the owner to do this??
I have no idea, but it’s quite interesting and looks pretty good, too.
janet
Whoa!
I know. 🙂 Who thought of that, I wonder?
janet
Bahah, I couldn’t believe my eyes if I saw this one. I’d believe it had been planted.
No one is going to miss it, that’s for sure.
janet
I don’t think it was Cheet-ing a bit. Lame try I know🙄
Not at all. That works. 🙂
