We usually talk about the road less taken, but today for the Photo Challenge, Krista asks us to share a photo of something that surprised or delighted us on a the road we did take. There are so many choices for this that I don’t know where to start, but my photo files would be the place. 🙂
Several years ago, my husband and I were in Basel, Switzerland for our last day of a wonderful trip, which had included seeing a stage of the Tour de France. A fellow blogger who lives in Basel met us and showed us around. While exploring some of the back streets of this lovely city, I spied this unexpected resident, which both surprised and delighted me.
So cute! I wonder if it comes to life at night…
Hmm, never thought of that! 🙂 Thanks for taking the time to comment. It seems that people are in the habit of just “liking” and then moving on. I understand the number of posts out there to view, but I do try to comment and appreciate that time taken on those I get in return.

I understand how you feel, Janet… I appreciate your comments on my posts as well. ☺
Simply charming! ☺️
Thanks, Carol. She was.

Lovely photo. Maybe for FF?
I imagine it would spawn some amazing stories! 🙂 You can let Rochelle know. I’m fine with her using it.

You were in Switzerland and this is what you share with us? OK, I’ll admit it’s cute. And unexpected. And it fits the prompt perfectly. But still, a stuffed doll? In Switzerland? Show me a Swiss woman in a bathing suit. Now that would delight me! 😉
A Swiss woman in a bathing suit/the Alps (which we didn’t see as we were only in Basel for the day)/cheese/etc., would be too expected. And have you ever seen a Swiss woman in a bathing suit on a road at all? 🙂
janet
No. That’s why it would have been unexpected. I don’t ask for much, Janet!
My head is starting to hurt, Emilio. I’ll be back after I take something or have some soothing tea.
Was it something I said?
🙂 If I wait long enough, it might be late enough for a drink. No, wait. It’s Ash Wednesday, so we have church tonight. Maybe when I get home and am watching the hockey game.
So sweet, I imagine some little person is missing her 🙂
Of maybe that’s her home, although I hope not outdoors.

This immediately brought a face-spliting, back-flashing smile. My mom used to make those for us:) Awesome!
Wow, that’s great! I’m glad to be able to bring back such a good memory and thanks for sharing your story.
janet
Thank you:)
I wonder if that is her real home – anyway a very charming surprise!
Hopefully not her real home, but it was fun to see.

That’s a pretty cute find, Janet.
Hopefully not something lost. Gave a whole different look to the landscaping. 🙂
🙂 Now this is a cute surprise.
Especially for Switzerland, where everything is so precise and in order (so they say).
Have a very HAPPY day xo 🙂
Charming!
Very cute. Thank you for the smile. 🙂
Aw, yeah, sweet 🙂
🙂 Thanks, Joey.

I can’t help wondering if some little child got home and discovered they’d lost a favourite toy. The boy-child used to “park” his soft toys in odd places (not unlike the little nest you found) and then get very upset when he discovered them missing. The number of places I’ve had to return to …. I’ve even had French hotel laundry staff hunt for a tiny snow leopard that was nested in some bed linen. Sigh. Lovely photo though.
I hope this was just by her house, which is what I think, but I don’t really remember. Gotta have those special toys!
janet
😃 and sometimes they are the most unlikely toys to be so loved.

It looks like it is inviting all to hug it 🙂 How adorable it is 🙂
I hope the owner hadn’t lost it but put it there on purpose.

Is it a bird? is it a plane? What is it exactly J? Everyone is saying how cute & cuddly it is. But nobody’s asking the hard questions – except MB.
I can always count on MB to ask the difficult questions. In this case, I might be speculating wildly, but I believe it might be a doll. What do you think?
janet
Now you’ve made me go and have a real careful look at it J. A doll – perhaps. But MB is thinking that it looks somewhat like a lion. So can we agree on a Lion Doll? MB is Leo born, so he would be happy with that conclusion. What say you Yankee woman?
Sure, that sounds workable. Then every time I see it, I’ll think of you. 🙂
Oh yes, that would have been a delightful find! She’s cute.
I just hope her owner found her before it rained.
janet
Me too! 🙂
wonder who left it there?
My guess? A little girl. I hope she didn’t lose it.
