Thursday Doors…Beauty and the beast

Not long ago, we took a few days and went to Philadelphia again for a daughter visit.  While heading back to her apartment one afternoon through an area undergoing renovation, I spotted this duo.  They encapsulate the neighborhood perfectly.

To open the door to one of the most enjoyable challenges on the internet, walk/run/drive/crawl/dance/skip/ski (in winter)/cycle/roller skate…however you move, just get over to Norm’s blog and take part or just click on the link to view the entries.

    Lovely snap, Janet 🙂

    Great contrast, Janet

  3. LucciaGray says:

Fabulous contrast. The door on the left is a work in progress!

A Tale of Two Doorways! 🙂

    Great eye…love the dramatic side-by-side contrast. 🙂

  6. Wow! What a contrast. 😮

Philadelphia is one of cities I would like to visit, for all the history they have.
About your comment, when we lived in Los Angeles, Yosemite was the closest for a needed vacation from the stresses of the city and school a student could afford:). That is where I learned my watercolor painting (they have free art classes every day except on Sunday)

I think if I were the neighbor on the right, I’d take some paint to the front door. Discreetly of course 😉

  9. Su Leslie says:

Love it! That new door looks very new — like still being installed!

  10. Really great contrasts there! 🙂

  11. Lignum Draco says:

Quite the contrast. I’m guessing a door fancier finds the left one to be the true beauty.

  12. Dan Antion says:

Wow – the door on the left certainly is interesting. I like random shots like this.

  13. joey says:

Oh I do so love a neighborhood full of contradictions. It’s so much more real that way. Lovely capture 🙂

  14. marianallen says:

Oh, my gosh, it looks like somebody set fire to 230’s letterbox! Pretty lively neighborhood!

  15. Well, here’s an interesting perspective, the door on the left looks in sad condition with the light fixture hanging while the door on the right looks new or is in fabulous condition but look at the steps and the facade above the left door. They seem to be repaired on are being renovated but the steps below the right door are broken and are a safety hazard to those that want to knock on that door or visit. Don’t count out the ugly duckling, yet! 😉

I do believe you nailed it with that title, Janet 😀
    Awesome find!

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, that or the other thing.
