What? Wednesday again? I’m two and a half weeks into Tour de France watching and exhausted having just watched today’s mountain stage. What will I do with my morning’s after Sunday’s last stage? Ahh, well, on to today’s challenge, the Weekly Photo Challenge. Finding an apt photo can be as challenging as winning a Tour stage (well, maybe not) and today I’m searching for one that meets the challenge of “Unusual” posed to us by an excellent photographer, Lignum Draco.
I was blessed to be able to spend just a very, very short time in Yosemite in March. During that stay, I had this unusual view of the park. I also had an unusually hard time trying to get this photo ready to upload. 🙂
Wow, what a stunning view to capture – beautifully done! 🙂
Thanks so much, Ruth. It was a stunning morning!

Wow. What a beauty. I would have probably dropped my camera in awe, much like my jaw dropping when viewing this. Truly unusual! Love it!
By the time I saw this on the way out, my jaw was dragging on the ground from all the beauty like this while still in the park. It was a magical morning. (And my camera has a neck strap, which helps.) 🙂
janet
That’s beautiful!
I think I have some readers wondering how unusual fog is in Yosemite, but it was unusual for me. 🙂
janet
I’ve seen photos of fog there before. Honestly I think those people who live there get great images like this. You really were there at a great time to see such dramatic conditions!
Winter in Yosemite is just MAGICAL!
It’s my favorite season there. 🙂
I know there’s fog there, but I don’t really know how unusual it is. But it was unusually beautiful that day, so I think it works. I look forward to going again, sooner than it took me to get there the second time. 🙂
I hope you get there sooner than the second time too, and when you do I’m able to meet you there!
Yes, yes, yes!!
So tranquil and a nice POV, Janet. It looks like you were in a low flying aircraft.
Ω
🙂 We were in a low-flying car, Allan, but with the sky like this, the view was about the same.
Believe it or not, we haven’t been to Yosemite yet. That is going to have to change.
Ω
Definitely, Allan, but go in the off-season and during the middle of the week.
Good idea. Thanks.
Ω
I love it!! I’m always a fan of places with so much fog moving along the mountains 🙂
Thanks so much, Andy. The fog made for a glorious morning.
janet
For sure 🙂
Perhaps it is an unusual view of the park, I don’t know. Which is true it that your picture is so beauty!
Carlos, as I don’t live there and Google seems to have no information, I can’t confirm how unusual such a sight is. But I haven’t seen lots of fog photos, so for me, it was unusual. I’m glad you like it and thanks for commenting.
janet
For sure it’s shrouded J. But is it unusual? That is the question.
MB, it was unusual for me and although I tried to Google the number of foggy days in Yosemite, the internet was UNUSUALLY and unexpectedly quiet on the subject. I shall assume that it’s unusual and so should you. 🙂
janet
I will bow to you on this occasion. But I will always be in the wings, ever watchful of your posts!
I’m counting on it, MB. What are virtual cousins for if not that?
P.S. Bowing is a lovely gesture, but not necessary.
I am happy to bow. Quit while you’re ahead!
🙂
Shrouded indeed…perfect.
Jeanne, it was worth the rain and cold from the night before for the fabulous views the morning.
janet
Great image, Janet! Perfect!! 😉
Thanks very much, Sue. Perfection? Hee, hee.
janet
😊😊
Wow! Stunning.
Irene, it was a morning to take our breaths away!

I agree, what will we do after Sunday? I’m wondering what I ever did with my afternoons this summer. Lovely photo.
Thanks, Sandra. Yes, I spend all morning (here) running around during commercials trying to get things done. Thankfully, Sunday’s edition will be done before I have to go to church. It’s been a bit dire the two previous weeks, with me sneaking a surreptitious look now and then at my Tour app. 🙂
janet
A beautiful image Janet, I am so glad you managed to upload it! :o)xxx
What my husband reminded me to do was to close the app (Picasa) and then reopen it. Once I did that, I could export it and upload. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I was so frustrated for a good 20 minutes!
:o) xxx
Stunning photo Janet. I’m grateful for your efforts!
🙂 Thanks a lot, Su.
What a view… Truly epic, and those dramatic clouds make it look like something out of a painting. I’ve still never been to Yosemite but it’s on my shortlist of excursions. This is just the inspiring reminder I needed to make it happen.
Hannah, you’re so close that you have to go. But make it in the off-season, at least after school starts, and during the week if possible. I hadn’t been there since I was a child and it was such a joy.
janet
Impressive capture.
Thanks very much. Glad you liked it.
janet
Well done. Thanks for being part of this unusual challenge. 🙂
Thanks for being an unusual host. 🙂
Unusual and amazing view. Wow!
That’s what I was thinking all morning, Ruth. 🙂 I’m glad if my shot conveys even a bit of that feeling.
janet
Great view and a beautiful photo. Thanks for the effort to share it.
You’re entirely welcome, Dan. I’m happy you like it.
janet
The view is magical, Janet!
Thanks, Anita. It certainly was that day.
This is beautiful. Yosemite is one of my dreams. 🙂 And I felt like that after Wimbledon.
Yosemite is a truly beautiful place, Jo. I hope you get a chance to visit there one day. I also felt this way after the Stanley Cup playoffs, as (ice) hockey is perhaps my favorite sport of all.
janet
It’s strange that even when the skies and mountains are beaming with pride in the photo (for their strength and height), a human can capture them so easily.. Unusual.. Truly is..
Perfectly unusual. Clouds, light and delicate, covering the mighty mountains.
It’s the sort of beauty that catches me by the heart.
janet
Very unusual indeed …. nicely captured, Janet.
Thanks, Issy. It was such a wonderful morning.
It looks like it was. : )
Stunning Janet!
Thanks very much, Ritva. I know the view that morning stunned me!
Amazing click
It was an amazing morning. 🙂
janet
LOL, well worth your efforts Janet! Gorgeous
Thanks very much, Tina. 😊
Too beautiful! ^^
The whole morning was like that. 😊. What a joy!
janet
Did you managed to go for a long exposure?
No, sorry. 🙂 But I got some pretty good photos anyway
