Happy Wednesday, the last Wednesday, if you can believe it, of July. Where’s the summer gone? But no matter how fast it goes by, each Wednesday brings a new Photo Challenge theme and today that’s “Satisfaction.” I guess that means we can get some satisfaction, right? 🙂
I love road trips, nature, and beauty, so a combination of all three gives me a great deal of satisfaction. This South Dakota sunset was so beautiful that I pulled off the highway and took some photos, not content so simply see it in my rearview mirror!
11:35 am EST, Wednesday, July 26…Can anyone else see comments or pingbacks from the Photo Challenge? I tried two browsers and I’m not seeing anyone’s entries, including my own.
That’s pretty! So nice you actually had a place to pull over to photograph it and watch it.
I know. Usually I see great shots and there’s absolutely nowhere to pull off safely. That can be so frustrating, as frustrating as having the photo challenge not working properly, which it isn’t today. 🙂

Nice shot, Janet! A true photographer, having a camera ready while you are driving! I returned home on Saturday evening after a long trip to Sacramento and back for the day and saw a hawk perched on the streetlight; I’ve seen this hawk fly around the neighborhood but was never able to capture a shot. Sadly, after driving slowly under the streetlight and stopping to pull out my cell phone it took flight and I missed the photo op (I guess that only makes me a part-time photographer). Have a great rest-of-the week and weekend!
I always have my iPhone handy, Gordon, which stood me in good stead here. It’s hard to get a good shot of a bird with one, though, so I wouldn’t feel too bad. When I leave for my trip on Monday, I’ll have my Nikon as well…but I still always have to be able to pull over somewhere and that’s usually the hard part.
Stay safe out of traffic when you see that composition to shoot!
Nature is so awesome, and I love that what some may miss, can be so satisfying to others.
Very true. I like the big shot and the macro as well, so I’m often satisfied by nature. 🙂

Nice photo, Janet. You are the Mistress of the Mat, what with your framing and bordering techniques. It works so seamlessly with this photo.

I guess that either makes me an artist or a female wrestler, Allan. I’ll go for the former. 🙂
That’s where I was headed, but the latter would be an interesting alternative. Have you streamed “Glow” on Netflix?
Ω
No.
Red sky at night, Sailors’ delight…lovely…even without the water. 🙂
Thanks, Jeanne. It was beautiful, water or no.

The sun looks like it’s setting into an envelope
🙂 It’s a beautiful card, isn’t it, Dan.

What a stunning photo! Great capture.
Thanks, Orna, and thanks for dropping by. Not bad for a phone. 🙂

That is a beauty! We don’t get sunsets like that in my state.
Lovely sunset, Janet.
Thanks, Sandra. Happy Wednesday.

Beautiful sunset!
Thanks, Yuvi. I’m happy you enjoyed it. Thanks for stopping by.

Nice shot J,
(Hey hey hey,
That’s what I say!)
I’m glad you like it ’cause I try and I try and I try and I try. Thanks. 🙂

Nice one. MB (not MJ)
Simple and stunning.
I’ll let God know. 🙂 Thanks.

I’m grateful for the joy in natures’ beauty you share with all of us.
What a lovely comment! Thanks. I truly appreciate it.

South Dakota? Wow. My photos are never good enough for a photo challenge but I do enjoy seeing everyone’s work!
And I appreciate you stopping by so often to enjoy. 😉

A beautiful sunset could be the dictionary definition of satisfaction.
Anywhere in the world, Carol. 🙂
Nice! I really love the colours. The best that can happen to you after a long day, or not that long, is a beautiful sunset.
I’m glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. 🙂
janet
Glad you were able to capture such a beautiful sunset.
So we I, Irene.

Love it!!
The sun looks like it is leisurely floating and about to make a slow dramatic exit –
this summer has been flying by
It did. Slow and stately.

If you’re still interested: I do see the contributions on the photo challenge and I did see yours … actually, I came via the click on it from there. And I am glad I did 🙂
Thanks! It came up about half an hour after I posted the comment and you reminded me that I want to go take it off. Appreciate your visit and comment.

Such a beautiful sunset, and I’m glad you were able to find a spot to pull over! It always feels like sunsets happen incredibly fast when you want to capture them.
Yes, sometimes sunsets or sunrises are there only for an instant. I feel privileged to have caught this one.

You can’t lose with a good sunset! Or a good road trip. One year we were coming home from a road trip and I guess we were driving into the sun for quite awhile because the sunset seemed to last for two hours. Lynn still talks about it.
When we used to drive from Cleveland to Wyoming and left after my husband got off work, we always seemed to be in the heavy Indiana/Chicago traffic right during the time the sun was setting and looked as if it were right in the middle of the highway. That seemed to last forever, too. 🙂 But yes, sometimes a sunrise/set lingers and lingers, which can be truly magical.

beautiful rosy hue in the sky! What a nice picture!
LOTS of satisfaction in that sunset, Janet 🙂 🙂

Nice shot Janet. Wouldn’t it be great if roads had more places to pull over for photographs. Be great for tourism — hehe. 🙂
People complain about the interstate highways here, but they’re the fastest way to get somewhere. The secondary roads are often lovely, but oh, so slow. 🙂
Even some of our main highways are slow. At the moment we seem to be struggling with a lot of landslides. Guess hilly country + high rainfall = landslides. 🙂
Simple but oh so lovely 🙂
🙂 Thanks.
