The cool night air has been elusive this holiday weekend. Temps hit the SF Bay Area coast in the 100s (my house hit 92 F and we don’t have a/c so we did what most people do; head to the theater for a movie but reality returned at home when the temp registered 90 inside. Still, can’t complain too much when people in Texas have more concerns than our minor complaints.
Reminds me of one year when my s-i-l lived in Provence. It was in the 40’s (into the 100’s) and of course, no one has AC and many businesses don’t, either. So we went to a mall, a place we would normally not have gone near, as did lots of other people. We also consumed lots of Magnum ice cream bars…when they weren’t sold out. 🙂
I hope things cool down for you but I agree, no complaining when one thinks of Texas and coastal points east!
The nights there are completely dark, no ambient light, so you can see every star in the sky (if it’s clear.) And it’s also very, very quiet, none of that continual traffic noise we get here even in the suburbs.
Just got back from a trip to a nearby state park we’d never visited before. Had a great time and also found some fun little spots along the way, such as the oldest permanent Norwegian settlement in the US. 🙂 I’m sure you’ll be reading about it all one of these days.

Beautiful 🙂

That sounds delightful.
It is and great for star-gazing if you can stay up that late. 🙂
Well conjured, Janet.
Thanks, Tish, and a happy Sunday to you and yours.

🙂 And seeing photos too I hope!
But of course (said with a French accent, naturally!)

LOL! Bien sûr!
Lovely words and image Janet. I’m reminded of a holiday in Corsica, in the mountains. The total darkness that descended was amazing.
Isn’t that a great experience, Su?
It was. The only sound was the river. Eerie in the complete darkness.
