Ok, the sun’s out. Let’s go for a ride. I’ll ride Lacy and I’ll put you on Cookie. She’s a sweetheart, goes well (and smoothly), and won’t do anything crazy. I’ll give you tips as we go, but if we’re in front, you’ll be fine. Horses always like to be the second or third in line. That way, if any monsters come, they’ll get the first horse and give the others time to get away. 🙂 Anyway, there are so many places to go that are difficult to get to otherwise, unless you have a four-wheel drive vehicle and walk after you can’t drive any farther. Yes, I know the video appears to be sideways (for some unknown reason), but when you click on the arrow, it will show correctly. Mine is not to wonder why.
(Just changed my post title so I can join Six-Word Saturday. Glad you could come along for the ride.)
I know this isn’t the best photo, but considering it was taken with an iPhone from the back of a horse, it’s not bad. There’s been a group of five young bucks around this year and this looks like the biggest of the three. But he won’t be there much longer. Oops, there he goes.
This ride will take us about three hours round trip. When we get to the top of this steep, long hill, we’ll take a right instead of going to the waterfall. I can hear cattle bawling down that way and I’d rather stay away from them anyway.
The trail’s pretty clear, even though I don’t think many people have ridden here this year. Only a few places where we have to go around downed trees in the trail. Thankfully there’s no access for wheeled vehicles on this trail. And look at the views.
It’s a bit hazy today, maybe some smoke from the fires in Canada. But you can see for miles and miles. Our younger daughter and I love to ride this trail and now you’ve been able to enjoy it, too.
A beautiful place Janet, what a blessing to explore it with horses! 😄🐎
Much more fun (and quiet) than going on an ATV/4-wheeler and these places you’d have to hike into anyway.
Thanks for taking us along, Janet. It really is remarkably beautiful. I really like the photo of the bucks. It has a nice effect.
The only effect of the photo of the buck is whatever effect the phone gave when I took the shot while riding. 🙂 I’m glad you liked it, though, and the ride as well. I bet you’re not even saddle-sore!
Dan, I just realized I used the zoom effect on that photo. Duh. Must be too early in the morning. 🙂
I just assumed it was the motion, but I like it
🙂 This looks like you and your daughter had a great time, dear Janet.
And now a very HAPPY weekend to you!
Claudia 🙂
We love that ride, Claudia, but unfortunately, neither or our daughters (or my husband) were able to be there this year. This time it was just me and Lacy. 🙂 But it was still a good time.
Hope your weekend’s off to a great start.
Fun and tranquilizing to ponder.
It was fun, Sally, and always a joy for me.

Long time since I was aboard a horse. Thanks for the wonderful ride. Tho am a bit stiff in the saddle area after 3 hours!
🙂 I’m glad you could come along, Tish. Sorry about the soreness. I never used to get saddle-sore, but now that I’m older, I’ve apparently lost a bit of that immunity.
janet
I sat on a saw horse once, and we used to have seahorses on the bathroom wallpaper. Does that count?
Lovely country, though, We’ve got plenty of that around here, for sure. still, thanks for the camera work!!!
Hmmm, maybe? Depends on your age, I think. 🙂 Thanks for coming along for the ride anyway, Ron.

Glad to have the chance of a horse ride without getting up on one! Sounds like cattle can be troublesome.
Cattle are more annoying than troublesome unless your horse really doesn’t like them. Cattle tend to make a lot of noise, start running and bawling for various reasons (which horses may not like), and things like that. I prefer to not be around them but it’s not like running into a bear or something. 🙂 Glad you could ride along.

Ah, I guess the herd instinct and their fears may unsettle some horses. I will try and tide again soon, this is an almost perfect place for it and more pigs for ham than cattle here.
Sound good. My first horse didn’t like pigs, but cattle didn’t bother him at all.
I haven’t been on a horse since I was in my teens and went to Yosemite with my parents. I didn’t have a camera with me so I have no pictures of that and I don’t really remember the view, just the sore legs from riding a horse! Thanks for sharing your pictures, Janet. Have a marvelous weekend! Janet (somehow putting my name seems redundant)
Well, I’m glad you could come along and you won’t have any soreness from this ride. 🙂
I’ve got a saw bum after 3 hours but the scenery was delightful. 🙂 Thank you very much!
My pleasure, Jo. We should have taken a shorter ride for your first one, I guess. 🙂
janet
So beautiful! Thanks for taking me there 😌
Glad you could come along, Nicole. It’s always fun.

Best horse ride I’ve ever had! Beautiful scenery 🙂 Thanks for sharing.
I’m glad so many friends could come along, Joey. The views are worth the ride.
janet
I bet! 🙂
Nice story, Janet. I also enjoyed the video.
Ω
I kept a good grip on the phone, Allan! If I drop it there, who knows what could happen, worse of which would be Lacy stepping on it. 🙂
That would definitely void the warranty.
Ω
You think? 🙂
🤡
Thanks for taking us along, Janet!
Thanks for coming. We had quite a group! 🙂
You must have a big corral for all these horses 😉
There were about 50 up there this year, although they’re obviously not all ours. 🙂
Thank you for the beautiful ride…I guess I am a bit stiff now…
Then we’ll have to have an adult beverage and you can soak in the tub. Or we can take the beverages on the porch and relax there. Nowhere to get a massage up on the mountain, though. 🙂
janet
I will settle for the porch…
Looks like a fun ride Janet. Glad I’m on Cookie; me and horses don’t have a particularly strong acquaintance.
I knew she’d take good care of you, Su. She’s my husband’s favorite and a real sweetheart.
Janet-
I turned off the music to see and hear your post! Wonderful to listen to the soothing clomp in the quiet of the mountain trail. I feel so RELAXED with even the short little clip you shared. Please, can we do this again!?
~Jane
You may do it as often as you like, Jane. 🙂 It is relaxing, although as I’ve said before, you can’t get too relaxed just in case something happens to startle your horse…coming upon a moose, bear, some cattle, etc. But from home, you can relax all you like. Thanks for taking a ride with me.
janet
Cookie was a wonderful companion for the ride! I love the views, and the wildflowers. When can we go again? 🙂
I’m sure I’d get saddle sore. I haven’t ridden in ages!
We can go any time, Deborah. Soon, though, we’ll be seeing the Badlands, but not on horseback. That will give your riding parts a break. 🙂 Cookie is a wonderful ride and the views can’t be beaten.
