Ok, the sun’s out. Let’s go for a ride. I’ll ride Lacy and I’ll put you on Cookie. She’s a sweetheart, goes well (and smoothly), and won’t do anything crazy. I’ll give you tips as we go, but if we’re in front, you’ll be fine. Horses always like to be the second or third in line. That way, if any monsters come, they’ll get the first horse and give the others time to get away. 🙂 Anyway, there are so many places to go that are difficult to get to otherwise, unless you have a four-wheel drive vehicle and walk after you can’t drive any farther. Yes, I know the video appears to be sideways (for some unknown reason), but when you click on the arrow, it will show correctly. Mine is not to wonder why.

I know this isn’t the best photo, but considering it was taken with an iPhone from the back of a horse, it’s not bad. There’s been a group of five young bucks around this year and this looks like the biggest of the three. But he won’t be there much longer. Oops, there he goes.
This ride will take us about three hours round trip. When we get to the top of this steep, long hill, we’ll take a right instead of going to the waterfall. I can hear cattle bawling down that way and I’d rather stay away from them anyway.
The trail’s pretty clear, even though I don’t think many people have ridden here this year. Only a few places where we have to go around downed trees in the trail. Thankfully there’s no access for wheeled vehicles on this trail. And look at the views.
It’s a bit hazy today, maybe some smoke from the fires in Canada. But you can see for miles and miles. Our younger daughter and I love to ride this trail and now you’ve been able to enjoy it, too.

Much more fun (and quiet) than going on an ATV/4-wheeler and these places you’d have to hike into anyway.

The only effect of the photo of the buck is whatever effect the phone gave when I took the shot while riding. 🙂 I’m glad you liked it, though, and the ride as well. I bet you’re not even saddle-sore!

We love that ride, Claudia, but unfortunately, neither or our daughters (or my husband) were able to be there this year. This time it was just me and Lacy. 🙂 But it was still a good time.

Glad to have the chance of a horse ride without getting up on one! Sounds like cattle can be troublesome.
Cattle are more annoying than troublesome unless your horse really doesn’t like them. Cattle tend to make a lot of noise, start running and bawling for various reasons (which horses may not like), and things like that. I prefer to not be around them but it’s not like running into a bear or something. 🙂 Glad you could ride along.

Ah, I guess the herd instinct and their fears may unsettle some horses. I will try and tide again soon, this is an almost perfect place for it and more pigs for ham than cattle here.
Sound good. My first horse didn’t like pigs, but cattle didn’t bother him at all.
I haven’t been on a horse since I was in my teens and went to Yosemite with my parents. I didn’t have a camera with me so I have no pictures of that and I don’t really remember the view, just the sore legs from riding a horse! Thanks for sharing your pictures, Janet. You may do it as often as you like, Jane. 🙂 It is relaxing, although as I’ve said before, you can’t get too relaxed just in case something happens to startle your horse…coming upon a moose, bear, some cattle, etc. But from home, you can relax all you like. Thanks for taking a ride with me.
