I have no idea what this is (input invited), but I love the delicate little waxy flowers and the graceful curves of the stem. And doesn’t this quote from Shakespeare make you want to lie down on the bank he describes?
I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine.
~William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night’s Dream
A flower blossoms for its own joy.

Charming shot with the curves, colours and contrasts.
Thanks, Sue. Those are what caught my attention.

It is pretty. That’s all I’ve got.
That’s enough, Dan. Happy Friday.

Looks like pokeweed. https://nature.mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/field-guide/pokeweed The old folks used to gather the young plants by the side of the road and cook the leaves forEVer with fatty pork. Slightly less old folks may remember Tony Joe White’s 1968 song, “Poke Salat Annie (Gator Got Yer Granny)” which, believe it or not, wasn’t a funny song. Yeah. That’s pokeweed, I’m pretty sure.
I’ll take a look, but thanks, Marian. I thought of that song the minute I saw your comment. 🙂

I am alreay with Shakespeare…but I do not know that flower – a true beauty though.
Marian thinks it’s pokeweed, but it’s pretty no matter what it is.

Exactly – and then we can say – pokeweed!
I like the way that the stem goes from light to dark pink from the tip to the base of the bloom. You did a great job capturing the colors and delicacy of this plant.

Thanks, Allan. You’d laugh to see me taking macro photos with my Nikon and telephoto…from about six feet away. I bought a macro lens for it, but have to get it out and work with it. 🙂

I used to have a Nikon 105 macro lens and it was fantastic. I used it for portraiture after adding one of Nikon’s Soft filters on it. Pricy, but the results were worth it.

Gorgeous shot
Glad you think so, Maddy. Thanks and happy Friday.

Lovely shot. That’s pokeweed. I have a patch of those in my back forty. After the pretty part you captured, it fruits a chain of shiny dark purple berries. Toxic but still pretty to look at 😀
Yes, I’ve seen the berries, too. Thanks for confirming the pokeweed name, Joey, and for mentioning that it’s toxic…in case I ever want to bump someone off. 🙂

Love the lines and colors in the photo. I see you’ve gotten the id, but you’ll need to pick a different one if you’re planning on knocking someone off, lol. It won’t be easy to get to act that quickly. There are other plants better for the task… oh it’s a good thing to be a writer. To talk of such topics might be scary to those not in the know.
I have never nominated you for the black and White Challenge

No pressure or have you already done it. I would love to see this flower in b8w

Lovely shot Janet; the curving stem is so peaceful, and works well with the Shakespeare.
Merci beaucoup, Su. 🙂
de rien 🙂
Beautifully isolated, and yes! I want to be on that bank.
🙂 I think it will be crowded with friends.

🙂
I love the strong lines and bright colors. It’s especially bold against the dark background.
I like the way some of these plants/flowers just shoot way out without any support by any other plants. This one is so graceful, too.
janet
A delightful little flower just doing its own thing, and the colour scheme is stunning
Thanks very much, Pauline. 🙂

Sweet and delicate …. ❤️
🙂
Such a delicate flower…
It really is and the berries are lovely, too.

So pretty! This site feels like home – flowers + poetry. 😍
Welcome home, Ali. 🙂 Glad to have you stop by.

Nice flower and poem … Where you shooted this cuties? (It reminds me of my cacti flower which were bloomed just once … )
This was in the park where I walk regularly here in Naperville, Illinois in the Chicago area.
