Six Word Saturday…A snowy day in the park

This is what I’m waiting for!  We’ve had frost and no real snow yet.  But just Thursday morning, I was surprised and thrilled to open the garage door to a dusting of snow, enough to whet my taste for more.  After all, if it’s going to be in the teens before wind chill, there might as well be some beautiful snow!

These shots are from just over a year ago and even if you’re somewhere warm (or especially if you’re somewhere warm), you can sit back and enjoy the snow without any of the cold or shoveling.  So grab that cup of tea or coffee and just relax and enjoy the weekend.  But I’ve got to work both days, so I’m off.  ‘Bye for now.

Comments
  1. We had some snow in Amsterdam yesterday but it’s all gone now after heavy rains.
    I prefer like that.
    Have a lovely weekend.

  2. Kelly MacKay says:

We are getting our first snow today. In my area of New Brunswick. Canada

  3. pommepal says:

Oh I love the look of snow in these photos and on Christmas cards, but I don’t miss the physical, coldness of it

  4. Murphy's Law says:

Beautiful photos. They make me wonder why I hate winter! Lol. Here in the Hudson Valley, NY we’re getting our first snowstorm as well. Snow is a beautiful sight from my window or your photos, otherwise, not so much.

Even though you have to work, hope you have a great weekend. —-Ginger—-

    • Ginger, in winter, I prefer snow. Of course, too much can be a problem, but rain gets me wet much faster than snow and isn’t as pretty. This morning we have another dusting, which at least allows me to enjoy a tiny bit of beauty. 🙂

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, too. I have this morning off and then I’m off on Monday (not sure what other days, as the schedule isn’t out), so I’ll enjoy a bit of down time then…or at least a different sort of work. 🙂

    It’s a long time since I had a working weekend. Not something I miss 🙂 🙂

    • I agree, Jo. I’m working part time and because of that, other people at the shop are always texting me, asking me to take shift for them. In general, if I can, I do, but although I signed on for two days a week, it’s not been that for some time. Ahh, well, I could always say no.

  6. Sue says:

Oh, no snow where I am….yet.

  7. Hi J. Yes I am somewhere warm – relatively speaking – Doha, Qatar. 21C as I type but you need a jacket outside with the wind chill. I still can’t wark that out. I depart for the homeland next weekend and half the Emerald Isle is covered in a blanket of white snow for the last 24 hours. Hopefully its still there when I get back, for some MB snow shots.

    Anyway……

We have a word in Ireland – yoke. It can have multiple meanings depending on the context or positioning in the sentense. But often its referring to something that we don’t actually know how to describe. So I will ask you a question in Joycian Irish English – What are those 2 black yokes in the bottom left photo???

Regards and Happy Christmas to all in your neck of the woods. Looking forward to deadly photos and tall tales in 2018!

    • Great to hear from you, MB. I haven’t heard from you, but then again, I haven’t done the photo challenge for a few weeks, as I’ve been scheduled to work on Wednesday and, being busy getting ready for Christmas and our daughters coming home in just over a week, I can’t summon up the energy or take the time to go to all the other entries.

I hope there’s plenty snow left when you get home. What fun that will be after the desert! As for those two yokes (thanks for the lesson in Irish, BTW), they’re two geese. I did think perhaps I should mention that, but I’m glad I waited or I wouldn’t have learned about yokes.

Merry Christmas to you and yours as well. Many more photos and tales coming, so don’t despair. 🙂

Great pictures. No snow here in CA but it sure is getting cold! In the 40’s in the morning. Happy Saturday.

    • Thanks, J2. Happy Saturday to you as well. We have a bit of snow today which is great, but also wind with our cold, which is not so great. I’ll be inside working all afternoon, though, so it won’t matter as much. 🙂

    A great 6 words 🙂
It is bitterly cold here too and I’m hoping for some snow tomorrow.

  10. Tina Schell says:

Oooooh snow – it’s been a long time for us down here in the south! We’re heading north for the holidays soon so hopefully it will be a white Christmas AFTER we’ve arrived!

  11. yes, i am somewhere ‘somewhat’ warm, but after viewing random images of snow, i am now wearing a sweater!!!!!! brrrrrrrrrr, cyberspace sometimes does a great job of transporting us elsewhere!!!!

  12. happyface313 says:

🙂 We had a teensy bit of snow in Vienna a couple of days ago. But not it’s dry and stormy.
But who knows, perhaps we have snow tomorrow morning when I wake up…?
A very HAPPY weekend to you, dear Janet 🙂

  13. Dan Antion says:

I like the pictures of the horses in the snow. We’re getting our first real snow today and tonight.

  14. It’s like a scene from another planet to me. So mysterious, so untouchable, if not downright uninhabitable… Glad you’re enjoying it though!

  15. Jet Eliot says:

I am one of those people who enjoy the warm weather in winter. But I love to look at your photos, Janet, and take a joy in seeing its beauty, thank you.

  16. Got to admit that, at least until I have my other hip surgery and recover, I don’t care for any snow or ice…once I am fine, then, except for watching out not to fall, I can enjoy even the shoveling part.
