Natural curls

No time for a long post today.  It’s late Sunday and we’re just back from a Super Bowl party, watching the Eagles defeat the Patriots.  The food was great, the game even better, the company best of all.  So today I offer you a seemingly simple shot that took a long time to take, as the Windy City was living up to its name on the cold morning when I tried and tried to get this papery beauty to hold still long enough to immortalize it.  I hope you enjoy the result.

Beautiful Janet! Is it still cold there? I am hoping it is our last week of sub-Arctic temps! I am sure all the Super Bowl visitors had a real shock! So many of the events were held outdoors!

Nice photo, Janet. I like the soft light on the inside of the curl. I must admit, at first glance I thought it was a wood shaving, like from a hand plane.

I didn’t care about the game, wanting whoever to win that would gain us the most money (hubs takes numbers in football pools). Baseball is my game and I can’t wait for next month! Great shot of the curl.

  6. Lovely image, Janet. Glad you had fun at the party. Being English, I don’t understand the game at all. 🙂

A lovely photo. The large spiral is aesthetically pleasing.
It sounds like your team won. 🙂

Oh yes, that’s very pleasing to my eyes 🙂

    A fairy rollercoaster!

  10. Wow! I love the simplicity and emphasis on pure form, yet the richness in the textural details. There’s such grace and beauty in that single frame.

  11. Great job on waiting for a calm moment to immortalize the curl! I love the color and form.

    • It wasn’t very big, but it caught me eye and I had to stop and try and try. Fortunately, my phone hadn’t gotten too cold to work, which it sometimes does on these very cold days.

I like the photo a lot (I liked the game as well).

    • 🙂 I don’t think there were many people outside New England rooting for them. It might be that they don’t like NE or that they’re tired of NE winning all the time, but Philly was a fan favorite. Besides, it was just an excellent game and I’m so happy for Nick Foles.

It was a great game, and Foles is a great story. Most of the people I was with are Giant’s fans, with a few Steelers and Eagles fans tossed in. The Patriot fans in the room were having a tough night. I’ve been in that position. I felt a little bad for one coworker, but not enough to suppress and hoots and hollers.

  13. I absolutely love this… the colour, the texture, the shape…the simplicity.. the concept -.beautiful
