Yesterday we woke to the promised winter storm: about 6″ of snow on the ground and still coming down thickly.  It snowed well into the late afternoon, a gloriously beautiful day!  By the time it stopped, it was probably close to 10″, making a walk to the nearby grocery store for buy-one-get-one pizza for National Pizza Day quite a bit of exercise.  More snow’s in the forecast for tomorrow and Sunday.  I may have to head over to the park in the morning!

Choosing the six-word title for today’s post was almost as difficult as choosing how to edit this shot.  Hopefully you’ll enjoy both and hopefully also have a wonder-filled weekend.  I know I will.

  1. That is a great shot, and would you mind sending over one of those two-for-one pizzas?

    • I’d love to. I got sausage for one and BBQ chicken for the other. They used to have one with goat cheese and veggies that was wonderful, but evidently didn’t sell well. Let me know which ones your prefer (also pepperoni, cheese, and margherita) and where to send them. 🙂

      • I peeled the ‘flying turtle’ from the magic carpet before leaving Casa Loca, so I’ll unroll the turtle, dust it off, check for frayed edges and sail off in that direction…. since it’s magic, i can pick you up and we take a round-the-world spin and drop you back off… half and half for the pizza if that’s possible, and we can eat as we soar over the earth! i’ll bring the drinks!

seriously, am about to head from the cloud forest back to my new home/area, which is a seven-hour drive.. will be offline for another week or til i venture out for supplies! (*it’s carnival week, and it will be crazy on the coast….)

      • I’m ready to go. I’ll just get two pizzas and we can have leftovers for breakfast or lunch!

Have a safe trip back home. I don’t envy you carnival week. I’m not a “large crowd” person. No desire to go to Mardi Gras or Disney World and the like. But magic carpet rides? Oh, yeah!

    So beautifully composed, Janet.

    Beautiful image!

  4. Dan Antion says:

Good luck digging out and/or getting around. I love the picture, Janet. I am fascinated by water drops.

    • Bill’s been getting lots of exercise shoveling and I went to the park this morning. It was difficult walking, as nothing’s plowed and even though some people were out yesterday, no one had been out this morning. In a few places, I was the first person to walk since the snow started and in the rest, I really had to work! It was glorious!!

      • Dan Antion says:

I like walking in fresh snow. Shoveling is another thing…

      • We always do it the smart way (if possible): shovel several times with smaller amounts of snow rather than when it’s done, heavier, and 10″ deep! 🙂 Compared to where we lived in Cleveland, we have hardly anything to shovel. We didn’t even get a snow blower when we moved and there’s so much less snow here than on the east side of Cleveland!!

      • Dan Antion says:

When I shoveled, I did the same thing. I’ve even done multiple passes with the blower for big storms. This year hasn’t been bad, but we’ve had scary storms as late as mid April, so I’m not hanging up the tools.

  5. I don’t envy the snow, but I certainly admire your skills in capturing that wonderful photo. 🙂

    • I’m glad you liked the shot, Judy. I’m fascinated by drops and have lots and lots of shots. 🙂 The snow is wonderful and made my walk in the park this morning LOTS of exercise, getting through all the snow!!

  6. I love the editing choice you made. Yesterday they canceled flights from our local airport to Chicago, so no chance of being in the neighborhood, lol. But I sure wish we had the snow! It’s a good thing you love it. We might get freezing drizzle tonight.

    • Today I wished I had my cross-country skis, Madison, as the snow was deep and difficult to walk through. But it was beautiful and great exercise!! You’re welcome any time the weather is good enough, with a place to stay and a companion for adventure.

  7. Leya says:

A wonderful shot – well composed and dripping! Lucky you with all that snow. Our winterweather is fading now. Thankful it lasted a week.

  8. Spectacular the way you captured the droplets. LOVE IT …
    Happy weekend !!!

  9. Ron. says:

We had a couple-day break, but it’s snowing again like a mother this morning…Almost t two feet on the deck (I know this because I had to wade out with a broom and clear the satellite dish).

    • A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do, Ron. Way to go. 🙂 We’re not currently getting any snow. The forecast is for tonight into tomorrow morning. We’ll see.

  10. Lovely selective focus and drop! You make the snow sound beautiful. I hope you get to the park for more lovely images, and of course exercise. 🙂

Do you wear clampons on your shoes so you don’t slip on ice when walking in the snow?

    • I did get to the park this morning, clomping through snow pretty much untouched, at least since earlier yesterday, and about 10″ deep in places. Just wore my snow boots. I don’t think there was any ice. But walking in deep snow is hard work! 🙂

Snow, or no, this is a great photo, Janet. I like the lavender border also.

  12. joey says:

    OH that’s lovely! 🙂
We’d heard we’d get slush today, and I feared I may need to order pizza. (Only place we can walk to is bbq, and they’re … inconsistent.) BUT! No slush, sadly, no snow either and so I went to the grocery and bought the vittles. Nice to be settled in.

  13. Tina Schell says:

Wonderful capture Janet – hope you’re enjoying your snow days!

  14. Suzy says:

What a wonderful picture. You composed that very well.
