Hurrah! I have a Wednesday off, which means I can participate in the Weekly Photo Challenge, something I’ve been missing for some weeks. Today’s theme is “Story”. Jen asks us to share a photo or group of photos that tells a story. As a photographer, I think that Rod Stewart’s words apply here: “Every picture tells a story, don’t it?”, so I could pick pretty much any photo and you could tell your own story about it.
However, I’m going to be, as Gollum said in Lord of the Rings, “tricksy.” This photo actually does tell a story of a time past in Naperville, Illinois.
true ;o) and dads rival Rod is right… like always ;O)
Ha! My husband says he has some rivals, too, although Rod isn’t one of them. 🙂

Nice shot, loving the tone actually 😊
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.

😉
Great shot, Janet. And good to see you here.
Thanks and thanks, Sandra. Nice to be back, at least for this week. 😉
A very creative solution to the challenge, Janet (and a great mural).

I’m always trying to find a different take on the challenge, Allan. We’re fortunate to have a number of great murals in Naperville. Chicago has a lot, too, and I think this summer I’ll have to explore and find some of them.
That sounds like a fun project. I look forward to seeing the results. A series, perhaps?

That might work. 🙂
Fun phooto for the challenge, Janet. Woo Hoo to days off …!!!
Definitely. 🙂
🙂 I like the picture, dear Janet,
and I’m curious about the story.
Hope you had a wonderful day!
Greetings from cold Vienna,
Claudia 🙂
The story is just about whatever the mural shows, a parade at some earlier time in Naperville’s history. It’s cold here as well, but spring is coming!!
Stay warm and have some fabulous hot chocolate and a pastry for me.

Now this is graffiti I can appreciate!
I’m pretty sure this was done with the permission of the store owner, but I know what you mean.

Clever choice, Janet! I love the mural.
Thanks, Anita. I thought it would be fun to have a picture of a picture that told a story.
Such an open-ended challenge is really one of the hardest. Great choice though; I do love street art.
I’m sure there’s lots of good street art out there, Hannah.

My cousin lives up in Naperville. What was it about the mural that compelled you to photograph it?
I have photos of several of the murals here, as well as those I’ve seen in Philadelphia, where one of our daughters live. I enjoy murals and street art (at least most of the latter.)

That’s really interesting. Kudos to the artist (and the photographer) on capturing the spirit of the city.
There are several really good murals in Naperville, which make it fun to walk around downtown.

Ole time 4th of July parade? Enjoy your Wednesday’s off! 🙂
Only off this Wednesday. Yes, looks like a Fourth of July parade.

Oh nuts! I thought Wednesday off would be a regular thing. I misunderstood that. 😦 Hopefully it’s not too long before you have another Weds. off to play in the challenge again.
I don’t have to do the Photo Challenge on Wednesday, Deborah, but Thursday is Thursday Doors, Friday I like to do flowers, etc. Just choices, as always. 🙂
I’m lost! Can you tell. 🙂 I’m glad you can keep it straight. I’ll just enjoy your images and thoughts.
🙂 All that was just to say that if I can’t do the challenge on Wednesday, I don’t usually bother doing it at all. No need to make a chart. Just drop by.
I love your choice for this challenge, and as another commenter said, I also really like the tone.
Thanks. I’m glad. 🙂 Happy Friday.

LOL, what a great idea for the challenge Janet – and great to see you posting for it!
It was nice to be able to pop back in for a day, Tina. It was fun doing something just a bit different.
Great one!

So many individual stories embraced in this one photo! Thanks for sharing 🙂
